Oh my this is heartbreaking, thanks for that by the way Buffy

It looks as thought the funeral will be very basic as the social fund will pay the burial charges and £700 for other things like coffin and flowers so it doesnt cover a church service.

Oh that is very sad. I wonder if there is a church that would do it for free? God that looks awful written down but well they might?

I need to know how is the funeral sorted out for someone without insurance/money and also what to do with the provident loan. Everyone is looking to me for help as for some reason they think I know about these type of things. I am not sure where to look on the boards for help either.

It's my understanding that when someone dies, then their estate is used to pay for the funeral, then it pays off the debts in the usual order and any shortfall dies with them.

I believe you can get a grant from the state for funeral expenses which is means tested, but it will be basic.

  • honey, I'm home!!!

Well, after 8 hours of chugging along on 4 different trains (1 more than expected) I've got home.

The taxi to the station took 20 minutes instead of 5 as apparently it was half marathon today and all the centre was closed off and he had to take a bit of a round trip, every time we got near to the station there were road closed signs!

The train from Leeds left 25 minutes late as there was no driver .

As I only had 12 minutes at Manchester, this made it a bit of a pain to get my connection. However, the driver who eventually turned up put his foot down and we arrived with literally 1 minute before the connecting train 10 platforms, 1 bridge and 2 travelators away was due to leave. I found a burst of speed I never knew I had but the BA$TARD, W*NKY:mad:  train driver wouldn't wait and it left as I literally reached the platform. Only about 4 young fit students who had legged it got on and so loads of us had to re-jig our journeys, which meant lots of changes and a bloody bridge to go over with my bag each time.

    Anyway, I'm home!

Just seen all the pics uploaded today - there are some classics!

Jinky looks great first thing in the morning :D and we had a really good go at eating the hotel out of all its bacon and sausages :rotfl:
