Should I switch from Scottish Power to British Gas?
I've been with Scottish Power for some time now - about 4 years, if memory serves me right; a long time going by today's standards
Currently, I am on Scottish Power's Online Energy Saver 4 tarriff - one which has been the cheapest for me, for some time now. :T
Given the price increases recently, I saw fit to research if it would be worth my while switching supplier - so away to uSwitch I went.
I currently pay about £35/month for gas and £38/month for electricity. That's £73/month, to save people working it out.
Anyway, uSwitch is telling me British Gas Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel - this is for about £65/month. Maybe I'm being naive here, but I always thought BG were usually the most expensive? Or are they still to change the prices at uSwitch?
What to do? Argh!

British Gas Click 5 hasn't had the recent increase in prices applied YET, neither has EON EnergyOnline extra 8.
These will probably hold there prices for another month or so and then annouce price increases, hoping the mass panic to switch suppliers has finalised first, which using the comparison sites these naturally appear the cheapest.Sealed pot challenge no 5820 -

The third, and final, cheapest supplier is EBICo EquiDual, wanting £72/month - making it hardly worth my effort changing. :rotfl:
From then on, every supplier is much more expensive.
Like I said to SP on the phone, I'll wait until the dust settles in a month or two's time, and review it in the beginning on November.
In the meantime, I am going to persist in getting monthly meter readings. This will help to ensure I have the most up-to-date readings possible when working out who is my cheapest supplier. I am so good with my meter readings, that I can usually find out a reading for a specific date before Scottish Power has the chance to say "one moment please".

You'd be surprised at how much you can reduce your consumption of gas and electricity by taking regular meter readings, I used to work within a large multiple retailer, which many years ago requested staff participate in monitor and recording Gas /Elec/Water monthly consumption, focusing on reducing wastage in these areas with very little money actual spent initially resulted in £1000's saved which was then utilised to become more energy efficient.

Good Luck
Just fitting a shower to my bath taps has saved me 20p/day - which sounds like nothing when you hear it like that, but that's £73 (0.20 * 365) every year.!:eek::eek::eek:Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0
