Oh my LORDY! I have just bawled my eyes out! All the work I have done today, literally hours of work, I've just lost it in a moment of madness by replacing a file name by accident. My techy friend says I can't get it back so I bawled!!! :( Bigger things to worry about in life I guess but its feeling rather rotten now :(

mumofjusttwo - if you put Advent in the search box at the top it'll bring several threads up -one of them is this one

    Ooh how frustrating
Good to bawl though and let it out. Does you good. If your techie friends say you can't retrieve it then they're probably right but I can ask DS as well, when he get's home from work. He's a bit of a computer whizz-kid.

Hi Jam - I find with this type of thing its best to wipe it from your memory asap and pretend it never happened. That's what I did when I locked us out of the house and it cost £200 to get back in. I paid the money - winced in pain for a second at how unnecessary it was - then wiped it from my mind never to be thought of again.
I've done similar things with work (not saved and lost a days work many a time) so I know how frustrating and annoying it is. But if there's nothing you can do then its best to forget about it and move on xxxxxxx

More kitchen nightmare - just got quoted £800 to tile (labour only!!) our kitchen floor. And trust me I do not live in a mansion - no, i live in a new build with a 10ft2 kitchen!! Gah!

Ooh did you order your kitchen Roxie?

yep, chosen and ordered the kitchen an worktops. Just need to source and buy some bits - sink/taps/integrated dishwasher and extractor hood - oh, and choose and sort the floor and wall tiling. oh and decide on the paint colours - put some on the walls and i dont like it :o so back to the goddam drawing board. Getting there slowely but surely, or so i thought until we got the unreal quote back for the floor tiling. looks like lino all the way for us!

Roxie if you bought the kitchen of my dreams from Ikea we will fall out hahaha Cmon spill!! :D

its a white gloss shaker style door with oak tops and modern handles to stop it looking too oldy worldy! i normally enjoy shopping but this is just a total mare - i dont like making such big expensive decisions that we have to live with forever (or at least the new good few years!)

Edit: thanks you all so much for the kind words. I have just eaten my tea and the anger has evaporated and I have had to pretend it never happened as you suggested Roxie!! I feel like a divvy but I was so upset at the time! So tonight will be fun re-doing it all - joy!!! :)

    EDIT: PLM is FIRST!!! :D

Oh Roxie I can so sympathise with kitchen nightmares, we have just had ours fitted over the last fortnight and it has been nothing but a nightmare. And it still hasn't finished as we have now got an engineer coming out from our Insurance company to fix a hole in the main waste pipe, for the house. in the kitchen. Anytime we flush anything to do with water, if I don't have a wad of towels over this hole in the concrete floor, I get a flooded kitchen and new units.

We also ended up with two kitchens delivered - I've heard of BOGOF's and two for one, but never on kitchens.. We have all the other units stored around Dh's car in the garage, just means we can't get in the garage to do anything i.e. turn water off at the mains etc.. Also it means we have to use my car for anything and I have to pay the petrol..aah!!

oh dear god no - 2 weeks!! They're starting work on the 16th and I'm hoping it'll be done in 4 days so we're not spilling into xmas week! Not the tiling - that'll prob have to be done after xmas now but at least the unit/worktops and appliances. boo hoo- am i being totally unrealistic. i thought it'd be a couple of days job - after all - they manage to fit kichens on 60 minute makeover lol!

Totally feel sorry for u natty - just the choosing/sorting out stage has been so stressful so god knows what i'll be like when they're actually in fitting the thing!

Oh god, now I'm totally panicked! Imagine if I only have half a kitchen on xmas day!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

I am sure it will be okay hon, the only reason it took a fortnight was that my stepbrother was fitting it and he came across some little problems as he went along. Plus the kitchen never got delivered on time, we had to wait three days for it to arrive and then two arrived at once..lol.

And we did have a new fridge freezer delivered that didn't fit so my stepbrother had to shave a couple of inches off the already installed worktop and my end cabinet..

I'm still putting things back in the kitchen - I have stuff up one end of the living room that I am avoiding. But on the good side we did have one and a half skip loads to get rid of and I am still chucking stuff out as I put bits back.

Fingers crossed that it will be all finished tomorrow when the engineer comes and sorts out the hole in the waste pipe - I will be breathing a sigh of relief then.

    Oh joys!! Never again!!
