I had no idea why until i rang and the guy i spoke to said this was a per my terms and conditions ( written in v small writing) .This means i have to pay it all back by the end of sept and not March as i was expecting. I tried to get him to reinstate it as I paid £300 off straight away but oh no its not possible....
Does anyone have any experience of this and have any ideas how i get them to change their mind?
The writing may be small but it still applies.
Try phoning them again and ask them very nicely.
The bottom line is that they are doing you a favour by giving you a special rate, you have to return the favour by keeping to any special terms connected to the special rate.0 -
Although i sympathise with you heppy 23 hit the nail on the head

You can't have it all! .
You might stand a chance if your a long standing customer of the Halifax and have other accounts with them try grovelling again, but my advice learn from your mistake and move on.Cashback earned since joining MSE:-Greasy Palms £372.83,Topcashback £57.15, R-Points 735 points, Cashback kings £131.28,My Shopping Rewards£37.30, Reward Circle 540 Points, Quidco £163.31:TPlay To Win!0 -

They also charged us £12. I'm closing the account, and will be claiming back the interest charged. Did you have any luck with the follow up?
I have more sympathy for this poster than the OP - even if you set up a minimum payment direct debit it may not be in place in the month you set it up or even the next one so you have to make manual payments - this is more of an 'oversight' than overspending the limit...0 -
But it's obvious from your statement whether the minimum payment will be collected by DD ... they use non-cryptic wording like
Assuming that a DD is in place when it is not, is actually pretty stupid.Your minimum payment of £5.00 will be collected by direct debit on 15 September 2008
Coffee drinker didn't set up a DD. That's the problem. Not that a DD was set up but wasn't ready in time for the payment due.0
