  • my contracted hours are only 16.5 hours, unfortunatly i am led to belive the contracted hours have to be above the 30hrs to be able to claim working tax credits... overtime not being assured etc

  • now hugs i wasn't expecting.... not that i shall turn it away.... a little hug goes a long way..... i am keeping my eyes open on the royal mail situation as someone had mentioned this to me in passing before hand, we do have a local sorting office but it's not a very large one and they are not recruiting at present, give it another couple of weeks and they might be though..... i have also just found a few jobs locally online that i shall be applying to so hopefully one of those will come through good.

i am not one to look lightly upon debts and money has always been a strong thing for me, i'm not quite sure where it all went wrong :S
  • If you enjoy driving is that a route you could go down. Also you could get the paper qualifications for say ECDL etc. at your adult education centre.

    Bar work?
  • If i could get a position as a multi drop driver using a 3.5 tonner then i'd grab it with both hands, unfortunatly companys tend to use 7.5 tonnes and over these days, and the smaller van jobs are very hard to get and are often already spoken before going to print.

Bar work is really out of the question as the jobs that advertise are for weekend staff and i already have that covered with tesco's..... i like your train of thought though.

i am currently applying for a positon within Mercedes Benz, as a parts person... no driving required but deals with cars which i do have a little more than a basic intrest in restoring my own cars etc.... only problem is i have to write a covering letter and you can't really put "just gimmie the job and i'll be diamond" lol

    by the way whats ECDL??

    by the way whats ECDL??

European Computer driving licence - i actually think that clait is a higher qualification than ecdl - maybe some1 will correct me - am not an expert but just know that a friend did his ECDL 1st then went onto do clait after this.

Good luck with everything - can't offhand think of any job ideas but will post her if i think of any!
  • a mate of mine has just said he has worked for these people several times

and he is under the impression you dont need a hgv liscence for 7.5 tons

    perhaps theyre worth contacting?

I do not know if this will help but I think Clait 1. is lower than ECDL and Clait 2 is higher than ECDL

Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
    Preemie hats - 2.
  • I shall have a look into the whole ECDL then, i know the local college does the courses as thats where i did the first level..... it doesn't work out too expensive either.

As regards to the licences brokenwings, it depends on your age, or rather the time you took your drivers licence, prior to 1997 (i belive) you got your 7.5 entitlement straight away when you took a full drivers licence, however after that date you have to take a seperate test.

i have taken the medical to get a ridgid licence 7.5 + over but have not got the funds to continue with the test and lessons as it's approx £600 providing you sail through and don't fail anything.

My OH worked for Driverhire for about 3 months when he got made redundant a couple of years ago and they were excellent, kept him in full time work and the pay was okay too. You need a C class licence on your driving licence to drive 7.5 tonners, if you are over a certain age you have it by right as it used to be automatic when you passed your test, I am thirtymumble and have it. BUT you can work for driverhire as a drivers mate. This means you don't actually drive but you help the driver with loading and unloading of the goods, its hard physical work but the pay is pretty good and theres normally plenty of work going.
    Good luck
    Tracey
