What's wrong with your current accomodation? Is it not suitable? Could you not wait until you've finished your degree?
Could your girlfriend not pay the rent with her salary for a studio or 1 bed flat or something?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
we're currently living with my mum but circumstancs have changed and we are going to have to move out. The trouble is we have two small dogs so we need a 1 bed house really. Also i dont want her to pay everything so would like to see if there is any support available.0

Not many landlords will be willing to accept two dogs. I know a young couple living in a bedsit because that is all they can afford. It's tough, but so is life. She could try for tax credits.Been away for a while.0

Do you have any savings?
If not, then I dont think that buying is an option anyway.
Souds really tough, dont suppose there is any other family you could live with?
You may find that more landlords might consider dogs, especially as so many people are trying to rent thier places out now and in some areas the rental market is flooded. You never know you might find a landlord who has even owned dogs in that very place themselves
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Important Question: Has your mother asked/ordered you to leave her home.
If she has then you can apply to the council for help.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
not asked or ordered but we're renting together after my parents recently split and shes now seeing someone else. So basically im not happy with the situation as he smokes indoors, leaves cigarette buts in the garden which is out of order considering we have dogs, and we want to move together just the two of us with the dogs.
I've got two years of uni left which makes it difficult, Cant wait to graduate tbh and be a bit more comfortable.
Is there any support available for people in our situation, thanks?0 -
Where abouts did you want to rent?
Have you looked at places on spareroom and gumtree?
Checked out the area on https://www.upmystreet.com ?
The above posters are right to single out the dog/pet situation, I don't allow pets and have seen other houses the enormous damage they can do, no matter what promises are made, owners do not and cannot mind control their pets not to do things.
If you are willing to houseshare and get rid of the pets I expect your options would open massively. Keep the pets, and you're talking a 1/2bedroom house which will be pricey or a studio which will be a bit cheaper.0 -
no way the pets can go, theyre part of the family

Im sure we'll find somewhere, its more the financial side of things tbh but hopefully we'll be able to sort something out.0 -
Have you looked on entitledto.co.uk
I expect you may be entitled to housing benefit, and as squat now says yuu MAY get soe help from the council. although it sounds like not.
Why not rung up housing benefit and see if they can tell you what you are entitled to - if anything. Its difficult to know what to advise as we dont know your GFs salary

What does she want?
When we first moved in together, I supported my boyfriend financially 100%. (In all fairness, he had relocated over 300 miles to live with me, so he didn't exactly find job hunting all that easy.)
We were fortunate in that he did find work after a few months, but I would have continued to prop him up if it's what we needed to do in order to live together. Your girlfriend might not be as against the idea as you are. If you're able to work part time, you could still contribute to bills (albeit not as much as her).
PS My boyfriend wasn't entitled to any benefits because my salary was taken into account when working out his entitlement. We're not married, but the government class me living with him as me being responsible for him. You may fall over the same stumbling block.0
