Included in my order was 3 packs of cider - 8 x 500ml bottles for £4.80.
Total £14.40.
They weren't in stock, so they sent me 24 individual bottles of the same cider - still 500ml each (packed into boxes of 8!) at a cost of £47.76.
What is going through their minds when they decide that this is a sensible substitution. OK, it's EXACTLY what i asked for - 24 bottles of cider - but instead of £14.40, it's £47.76!
lol, maybe Sir TL packs the online orders personally??:D
Hope you sent it back.0 -

Do they even have staff training? The woman who served me the other day didn't even recognise a fig. And when I told her it was a fig, she couldn't find it on the system.
I could go on and on about Tesco, but they're the only supermarket near me apart from Scotmid (The Co-op) and don't get me started on them..I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Hi,
I just wanted to come back on here and discuss a little what I have worked out today with regards to Tesco's online pricing.
As my original post said I ordered (Tues)24 cans lager £10.98. Checked website again on Wed, lager still showing at £10.98. Delivered Thurs am charged £15.48
When I went to do my shopping again last night I noticed that there were 3 items that were on special offer last week still showing the special offer price but NOT showing that the item was on special offer so not giving any expiry date.
I believe that this is what happened with the lager. £10.98 was the special offer price but the website was not showing that it was a special offer so I had no way of knowing when the price was going to revert back.
Please can someone tell me that this makes sense as I spent all morning emailing tesco customer services about this but the woman I was dealing with couldn't/wouldn't acknowledge my problem. She just kept replying that prices are a guide price. My argument was that if an item was on special offer then it is not a guide price as the price is guaranteed for a certain amount of time. I even e-mailed a screenshot example of an item which was showing a lower price but not showing that it was on special offer to the woman at Tesco - her response - "prices are a guide price"
It was like banging my head against a brick wall. I am trying to tell them that there is something wrong with the website but they will not admit this.
I ended the last e-mail saying that as we are getting nowhere and she didn't understand the effect that it was having on their customers, I am going to write to head office and take it from there.
When I do write I understand from looking on the net that I will be very lucky to get any response but am really only trying to draw their attention to the fact that there is a problem with their website.
I shop online at Tesco every week and have done for the last 7 years or so, I want to know when I order which goods are on special offer and when these offers end - is that too much to ask?
Sorry to have ranted for so long but I believe they need to put this problem right.
Do you understand what I am trying to say here seeing as Tesco Customer Services certainly didn't. (or didn't want to ???)No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
I don't use the service but from what I've read on here it's the way they do it. From what I understand the prices you get charged are the current prices on the day of delivery not the order day, most will be the same but then some might have changed.
You can complain till the cows come home but if thats the way they do it then they won't change it just for you.0 -
Thanks for your reply,
What I am trying to say is that if an item is on special offer it should be shown as such online so that we know when the offer is going to end - we would then know if it is still valid by the time we have delivery - just like all the other items that are on special offer.
I genuinely think that there is a problem with the site and this is what I am trying to explain to them.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

pinky, I agree it is a carp site. (Tim will disagree, but he's probably never used it - he's in and out of the supermarket in minutes, in person.)
No other site has trouble coping with special offers, or tells you that the price you pay may change when they actually deliver the goods. Can you imagine any other company taking an order and saying, 'Well, yes - we may say it's £x on the website, but if it may be much more than that when we deliver. Pay up or buy elsewhere.'
Also, Tesco's server cannot cope with the demand at peak periods. You may say it's me, but I have extremely efficient broadband, yet their website is very slow.0 -
I normally get a refund for anything abnormally charged or not in the offer.
Also I use the £10 off or 1000 point ecoupons so I do profit in the end...

I did once whilst my car had it's MOT. I had no problems. I don't have an otherwise hectic lifestyle where I have little time for shopping so I just do it the normal way.Tim will disagree
Technically I'll probably disagree!0 -

Tim, much as I love and respect you, you are a young single man. As you say, you have used Tesco Online once, and not for a family shop. Believe the problems many people have with them. They're not dreaming them up.
And technically, you don't think a server comes under pressure at peak times?0
