I might try that Centre Parcs idea then. Cheers! Doesn't have to be far away I guess... Just has to be LOVELY for her.

Oh, and where can I get cheap ferries to Jersey?

Oooo no not a ferry, won't be romantic with her being sick, very rough especially that time of year.

Oh, is it? Ok, scrap that then! Haha. I think it's going to have to be a hotel near-ish to Swindon, to make it 'romantic' enough.

So, I guess we're talking up to 150 miles radius from Swindon, and since I'm starting a new job soon, I can't book time off, so would be a 2 night stay most likely (Friday and Saturday).

    Anywhere?

Or, the alternative is we book a naff Travelodge or something, then have somewhere really amazing to go on the Saturday and Sunday :) Somewhere

Please think again about Paris. We've just returned from a midweek break with our 9 year old (ok so it wasn't romantic!) but it was fantastic.

We booked with airmiles (do you have any - or clubcard vouchers which you can exchange for airmiles). That will make it cheaper. We had a nice 3 star hotel (Best Western Nouveau Orleans) in Montparnasse. It was cheap and very easy to get around. Food was exceptional and most of the ideas I got from reading all the Paris threads on this site and trip advisor.

I would still consider going to Paris, but the trouble is, due to the new job, I can't really say I want time off straight away...

So, it has to be leaving late Friday and coming back early Monday if I can get a deal to Paris or suchlike.

Jersey isnt the only channel Island

    what about Guernesy or Alderney?

Alderney you can fly to from Southamptn (wth aurigny airline) or bornemouth(i think) with blue island airline

In fact alderney is the only island geographically actually in the channel! so its the only real "channel" island

Madeira should be good that time of year and nice weather, How about a Christmas market in Germany or Austria. Prague too of course very pretty and lots to see. Edinburgh in the UK weather well we all know about that but a really nice city for a visit.
:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

I agree a spa weekend may be something your wife will enjoy. My sister got a great deal by ringing the Millennium Madejski In Reading. It is a 4 star hotel with great reviews. It has a pool, spa, beauty treatment rooms etc. She is paying £69 pp a night for bnb and this includes a beauty treatment of her choice each day eg. nails, pedicure, massage etc.

Also you could look at London and a show. You could use this link to get 2 nights for the price of one (if you want luxury go for the Crowne Plaza Hotels, as some have pools, saunas etc- not the holiday inns.). A boat rip on the Thames when it is getting dusky and the lights are on is lovely and also a London bus tour (I personally like the Orginal London bus tour as you get a free river boat rip thrown in).
