Do routers usually get very hot?

My internet connection annoyingly cuts out several times each day. The best way of getting it back is to unplug the power from the router and re-plug after 10 seconds. Could the router be getting over heated and be cutting the connection off?

mine (Ozenda) does get very hot (the metal base): I have the same problem here; connections drops four/five/six times a day. I log in to my router page and refresh - that sorts things out for an hour or so:)BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Why does it always cut out at the most inconvenient of times. This afternoon in the middle of an online order. :mad:A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0

I must be lucky - mine has never cut out (touch wood). Nor does it become hot, just a little warm0

My Netgear WGR614v4 used to get so hot you could smell hot / melted plastic if it was used for any length of time- it would cut drop the connection and generally not cooperate too. I cut a hole in the plastic case, and put a heatsink / fan on the main chip, and it was fine after that.
Not ideal, and basically flawed design, butthe workaround was fine for me.Russia is HERE0 -
I have a belkin and a linksys that both get pretty hot. I do serious downloading too though

my Netgear gets cooking hot if the weather is anything other than absolutely freezing.
drops the wireless connection so often that I've resorted to trailing over a hundred metres of LAN cable around the house so I can just plug in in whatever room I'm in

Have a linksys which gets quite hot. Sometimes needs a reset, not often though.0

Sure, its a Thomson SpeedTouch 510. I've only had it 3 months, but no problems so far
PS It's a wired router - not wireless0
