Lone Parent claiming disablity premium on income support

I am a lone parent on dla and income support 1 child aged 12 after receiving this letter to ring job centre plus to make claim for I B of whch i did . got told half way through interview that i did not need to do anything as i received severe disablement premium and was given a number to ring that put me through to processing
dept at my local jobseekers branch of which i then got told that i did need to make a new claim of I B and was given the free phone no of which i had just rung?
Any body got any more advise on this issue and changes to IS and DLA before i attempt to ring them back again0
