Need to Cancel BT Broadband

Anyone have any ideas!

My Dad wants to cancel his BT Broadband, he decided last year he wanted to a laptop and go on the internet and was connected to BT Broadband in June 07, however since then he has decided he doesnt use the computer as much as he thought and has decided that if he wants to know anyting I can do it quicker for him. The only problem is that he took on a 18 month contract with BT which is costing him a fortune each month (I did warn him about it before hand) so as far as I can tell he wouldnt be able to cancel his contract until 11 December 08.

Does anyone know ow he could cancel his Broadband contract before this date, but still have his phone through them (as I did think about saying he was moving), but he wants the least hassal as possible.

Thanks

Pay out the contract he agreed to when he took it up.

Sorry to hijack a thread but how much do BT charge to get out of a contract?

Most likely the monthly fee x the number of months left till end of the contracted period.

Thanks for all your replies. I've emailed BT and asked if firstly he can do it, and if so how much would it cost. I'll let you know how much he would be charged for the remaining 3 months contract.

If BT trials webwise/Phorm again, it MAY be possible to leave and blame it on your disgust for their invasion of privacy. Only MAY be though. I think BT might have wised up to how unwise Webwise trials might be, carried out in secret... However, the trial promised in March as being "soon" has not started and is still "soon" according to BT. I bet BT know what the remaining term of the contract is when it comes to billing for it... yes, they'll be far more accurate on that!!

Sorry to say that it is likely that you will be asked to pay the remaining contract term price (monthly subscription per remaining month) - but like you said, you did warn of that before the contract was signed up.

    Good luck

yes he would be charged a full months subscription for each month left on the contract to cancel, so he may as well keep it and get some use out of it, rather tan pay for it and cancel anyway, Dave
Take every day as it comes!!
