Plants SLUGS (GRR) Don't Eat

Hi All,
Had to join in this thread. Does anyone have the big slugs - about 4/5" long, dark brown/black in colour. I don't think any plant withstands these blighters. What I can recommend is if they have devoured your plants, don't go out with a stick - eeew:eek: Go out with a tub of salt, I can guarantee you will feel better, highly therapeutic.:D0 -
These are what I'm worried about:

They haven't spread from Wales yet.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Have you ever tried Nematodes / Nemaslug?
You can get them from several sources online such as organic gardener site - green gardener and others.
Think they sell them in garden centres too but not sure.
They do work though, I had a horrendous problem with slugs and snails (even worse) but they really sorted it.

Now, there's frightening for you! I've saved the PDF, just in case one takes a trip down the M4. Something else besides New Zealand flatworm to have nightmares about, eh?0 -
they are a nightmare
mum catches them and stick them all into a container of salt
I grew somr spaghetti squash for a couple of years and they didnt get at them cos the plants have prickly bit on them.
But this new ghost slug seems frightening....

Theres a Hosta called Sum and Substance which grows really big and slugs don't like them..
My parents swear by the Nemaslug stuff and I have just ordered some; will let you know how I get on with it.. Currently I cut them in half with the lawn edging tool..0 -
I would say 'like them less' myself, probably because thery're big and a bit chewy. Strangely, S&S isn't one of the 'blue-leaved' hostas, which are supposed to be less attractive. The one I find most slug-resistant is a reverted form of 'June,' which, without the variegation, is 'blue.'Theres a Hosta called Sum and Substance which grows really big and slugs don't like them..0 -
Radio 4 have a list of slug resistant plants:

I find they don't bother the dandelions and nettles
- everything else they like....

What I wanna know is, if slugs like young tender plants, why don't they eat the weeds when they are young and tender too?0
