what sound does it make when you turn it on? does it beep once, 2 times quickly? no beeps at all?
and what version of windows are you using? if it is the same version as the tiny pc, make a basic boot disk and try that.what is the plural of moose?

I,ll have to count the beeps when my lad gets up tomorrow. Its running millenium?--well it was! How do i make a boot disc when nothing happens?is there a way round it?0

can you get it into safe mode, hit F8 on boot up
- Restart the computer.
- As the computer restarts, press and hold down the F8 key until the Windows 98/Me Startup menu appears.
- When the Windows 98 (or Me) Startup Menu appears, select Safe Mode and press Enter.

also make sure there is no floppy disk or cd already in the computer as ( well you can check in safe mode) it may be trying to boot up from the floppy or cd with a none bootable disk in there.what is the plural of moose?

I have just replaced the battery (£1.99) for someone with a 5 year old Tiny PC. This retains the BIOS details about the various peripherals fitted i.e. hard drive etc.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I'll get a battery asap.--will the bios info still be there if the batt went u/s? I,ve just tested the battery and it shows 3volts which is correct but i,ll get a new one anyway.0

Hold on, Hold on.................. Was there a beep code at the start then, or not?
If it is or isnt beeping has nothing to do with the bios battery anyway, so let's ignore that for now.
If there is a beep code, let us know what it is, and I'll have a look for you. What might also help is when you boot up, it should say what BIOS you're running. If you can get that, let us know aswell.
If it isnt beeping, it could be anything at all. That's computers for you! I would suggest using (if you have it) the recovery CD that came with it.
If you have the CD, and it doesn't ask you to boot from the CD, then you will need to go into your BIOS to change the boot sequence, but let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet.. Try the above, and let us know what happens

The tiny i posted about has a wrecked hard drive which will cost about £40 to replace plus another £65 to do the work.It seems a bit pricey to me. Is it??Also, would it be possible to do the repair myself if i can source the parts?? :eek:0
