OK, first of all, don't write all in capitals. It makes it quite hard to read.
Are you on the electoral roll? Do you have a phone contract? Any other credit to speak of?
I take it your current bank is HSBC? Have you tried any other banks? Natwest seem to be quite student friendly, I've not heard of anyone being turned down from them.0 -
Ok sorry,
I havent taken a computer ettiquiet course so frogive the capitals.
Yes, I'm on the e.roll, no I have no phone contact and of course I have no other credit. I'm in debit !!!!!!
My problem is my credit rating is rubbish, which is why HSBC wont give me my student account.
What makes you think Natwest will say yes ?
Thanks in advance everyone0 -
Also, do you have a job?
If your credit rating is bad because of debt, rather than just because you have no history, then a student account might be out of the question. Some places can be really picky about who they accept. You might just have to get a basic or a normal current account to help build up your rating.0 -
I have a part-time job but I really need a student account.
I already have a normal current account but its the overdraft that I need cos I am very poor and on the breadline... I cant even afford to eat most days cos I'm struggling to pay off my debts.0 -
Hi Lovelyjay, best thing would be for you to come on over to the DFW board and see if we can save you any money from your outgoings and get your debt under control.
Even a court would not see you go without food to pay debts! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Thank you GEmma0

Hi there, ive banked with the Halifax for pretty much 10 years, and they turned me down for a student account. I went to Natwest and got a student account, no problem.

Student accounts are evil... Just get you into even more debt that will mare your first 20 yrs of life post Uni. I will be eating my words at some point in the next 3 years I am sure.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0

Hiya, I have an absolutely dreadful credit rating but Natwest gave me the student account and full overdraft. Declined me for the credit card but I wasn't really bothered about getting that anyway. I would definately recommend trying them. Good luck
