i need to try and get more mpg's out of my car but before i sart don't tell me to..
Drive slower
get a diesel
buy a bike
or anything else that doesn't help
I've got a Golf VR6 and the mpg is pretty poor, is there anything i can do to get more miles out of it.
Probably a question for people who know about cars rather than a general question.
Is there anything that can be changed or tuned or added that will give that bit extra. I'm a bit of a mechanical fud so not sure what will do what.

can't be of much help but there was a thread about the merits of more expensive fuel against supermarket fuel - will go see if i can find and bump0 -
to be honest i've fallen out with supermarkert fuel..
On Thursday i put £20 in from Asda and had half a tank yesterday morning.
Yesterday i travelled from
my house to bargain boozer (cash point) - under a mile
bargain boozer to BP (cash point not working) - 100 yards
BP to Natwest (another cash point not working) - 1 mile
Natwest to the post office - 100 yards
post office to the barbers - 200 yards.
Barbers to home - 1 mile tops.
Then i had to pop out later and it had dropped an 8th of a tank just while being parked up.
Today i went to my mums and in the space of 1 mile dropped 8th of a tank, could have been a problem with the gauge but it didn't gradually go from a - b but in the blink of an eye it just went0 -
i've done a search and had a look but i can't find thread i'm looking for that its mentioned in. Sorry
maybe someone else can help 0 -
have you tried those tablet things or maybe its liquid not sure, that you put in your tank, a mate of mine said hes tried it and he reckons the car runs so much better and gets more miles to the gallon now, just a thought. :-/Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

might be worth giving it a whirl..
ps people... i'm not going to install Firefox either cos i don't think it'll fix it0 -
Rushnout has just about hit the nail on the head SG.....
Firstly you have to ensure the vehicle is regularly serviced, then you will be able to add 2 additives to the fuel 1 which will clean the injectors and only has to be added once every 30,000 miles or so. The second is simply a petrol enhancement additive which is mixed at about 25ml per 20 litres.
You could also add an oil additive into the oil, but I wouldn't recommend doing this if the vehicle has done above average miles and it could lead to additional problems.
I wont tell you the last thing you can do........ Why, that's simple your driving a VR6 what's the point of having it if you don't have fun.

Cheers Tony.. do you know what the additives are?0

Surely you know about http://www.honestjohn.co.uk and if they can't help you get more fun and miles out of your fancy new car in The Back Room you might as well sell it again and do one of those things you don't want to do. ;DSignature removed for peace of mind0
