Meanwhile, back to someone who HASN'T got a vested interest in defending the indefensible, lol (I note the thanks button was pressed by another industry worker/apologist  ). Gas prices dipped below $100 a barrel on Tuesday and not a word about the effect this will have on prices from the energy companies. A morally bankrupt industry? Discuss...Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I think the energy companys communication depts have not done themselves any favours , that much is obvious
like it or not most of the paying public dont understand the in and outs of what is being discussed here , so it DOES look like they are ripping us off...0 -
Agreed. My point is that they are very willing to discuss potential future price increases (then start heavily pushing fixed/capped deals, surprise surprise). These future price increases are blamed on outside factors like the price of gas being linked to the price of oil. Fine. Since the swingeing increases the price of oil has fallen almost A THIRD. Surely it's time for the energy comapnies to take the bull by the horns and announce the possibility of future PRICE DECREASES? The only problem being this would put punters off fixing/capping. Like I said, a morally bankrupt industry IMO...Call me Carmine....

It does seem corrupt that thye can squeal about the price of oil when its going UP and not a squek when its going down
hardly endears good feelings towards them0 -
Pipeline, a concern who have been mentioned by Martin in the past, who have been trying to negotiate cheaper petrol/diesel prices for their members, are claiming to be able, with the help of a gas provider, to negotiate savings for energy. Any subscribers to Pipeline (free) have been provided with a link to compare any savings that may be made. I couldn`t open the link an hour ago, but will try again later. This could be worth checking out. Regarding the cost of crude and at the pump prices, I noticed that yesterday the price of crude had dropped to below $100 a barrel, My local station increased it`s price of petrol by a penny a litre. `nuff said.:mad:0

Pipeline, lol. Exactly how long have they been saying stuff like this?Call me Carmine....

I haven't noticed petrol go down by 33% near me.
Unless the Government reduce the rate of tax on petrol by 33% and the dollar weakens you won't do.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Update: Oil is now OVER 50% off it's July high of $147 a barrel. The petrol companies (OK, instigated by the supermarkets) are starting to play ball. I wonder which industry the public (and, hopefully, the Govt) have their gaze fixed on now?
And STILL not a peep out of this shower masqerading as energy companies. They seem to have disappeared from the radar, a bit like that nice Mr Cameron, lol. And yet they STILL continue to push their fixed deals as if they are living in a parallel universe. Don't these people watch the news/read the papers?
HELLO! Wakey wakey!!

This thread started as Gas Prices Could Reduce.. and has now spread over into petrol prices. Might as well carry on the good work and widen the debate a bit further.
Far as I know there are a lot of production costs involved in converting oil to petrol. Exploration, getting it out of the ground, transport to a refinery, refining, getting it to the retailer, huge taxation,to name some. Costs us around £1.20 a litre or whatever.
Gas, and I have absolutely no idea why, is somehow linked by price to oil. Far as I know (I don't know much) gas is usually found in oil fields and is seen as a bonus.Gas isn't refined for domstic use but has something added to it to make it smell bad, for safety reasons. Most of the onshore transportation for gas was built and paid for out of the public purse donkeys years ago.
The wider issue is water. It falls out of the sky (for free), gets put in bottles( they don't even wash it) and sells for over a quid a litre in some places. I am all for new technology but hope they never invent an engine that runs on water. Having a bath once a month will cost you more than your mortgage if you haven't been re-possessed.
So this widens the thread to comments on personal hygene, mortgages, house prices, and any other subject a monger of doom wants to spout off about. I wish posters would just stick to the subject the thread they are posting to is about, don't you?
Anyone see the England game last night lol.0 -
I suspect energy companies are trying to cushion their losses now, and make an even bigger cushion for the future.
I've said for weeks now, that I suspect we'll see prices come down early next year.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0
