You can check the costs at the cost calculator http://www.pfwwsg.royalmail.com/servlet/acedispatcher?funcId=100&AceApplication=parcelforce&pageId=frameset - not sure whether it includes collection though, although I think on the page detailing that, it said providing the weight is under 10kg, collection and delivery is free.
Just looking at this link & found this "Non Account holders - available from selected Post Office branches (call 08457 22 33 44 for details), Parcelforce Worldwide depots or by using the "arrange a collection" link"
Does this mean I would have to take item to PO myself?

It's normally cheaper to go through a 'broker' than use the courier directly. For example, the interparcel link I posted saves about £4 on the parcelforce 48 service.tigermatt wrote:Parcelforce http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw offer a collection and delivery service anywhere in the UK and it says you don't even need an account. https://www.parcel2go.com is another one I thought of - they use DHL. You might have problems with them, though as there is a 4 cubic feet limit on parcel size.
Yvonne: In answer to your question, yes it does mean you'd have to take it there yourself, unless you book the service through one of the discount brokers.
Edit: Actually, it looks like you can still arrange collection to me.0 -
I think you can use the "arrange a collection" and they will collect it from your property and then deliver it. I found it on this page: http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/jump1?catId=2500033&mediaId=17900220. I went through a "dummy" order, and it allows you to enter a delivery and collection address, so I think it is pretty legit.0

Don't staples do a courier service for a set fee of about £8? I think they are pretty good on sizes/weights too...

I have also used https://www.senditquick.com ( recommended on here) as they were half the price of parcelforce 48hrs - It was a parcelforce van that came to collect the parcel!!! Got there in the 2 days and was over 20kgs - I would definately use them again as there was no hassle and they picked it up fro the house and saved me struggling to the po.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
