Parcel weighing almost 10kg - postage?

I have just sold 3 sets of 13 videos for £9.99, £12.50 & £9.99. The same person has bought all 3 sets which weigh 9750grams altogether. I had quoted £20 Special Delivery price for each set, each set weighs 3250grams. I can post them altogether for the same £20 as Special Delivery covers upto 10kgs but it's going to be very heavy to carry to PO, I don't have a car, so was wondering if anyone else has any ideas how to post these whilst giving the best postage costs to the buyer?
Thanks
Yvonne

:hello: Have you not got any friends or relatives that could kindly drop you to the PO? Does the buyer live near to you - if so, you could ask them if they could pick them up (presuming they have a car) and return them their £20 postage.YvonneCrossland wrote:I have just sold 3 sets of 13 videos for £9.99, £12.50 & £9.99. Firstly be careful about the accuracy of your weight as special delivery only covers up to 10KG.
Other than that apart from the suggestion about a friend with a car I can't see a better way of sending them by a trackable method.

I think you might be best off using a discount courier service for a package of that sort of weight, who would collect the item from you. I can only think of http://www.interparcel.com/ OTOH, but I'm sure others could give you some more suggestions...0

I think CityLink offer a collection and Delivery service: http://www.city-link.co.uk/services/ukservices.phpSAME DAY
Immediate collection and direct delivery0 -
Each video weighs 250grams without packaging, I can't see packaging weighing much more - can you? Don't really know of anyone with a car who could help although I will ask around. With parcel courier companies don't you have to be a business &/or pay a yearly fee? I don't think I will ever need to post something this big again so I don't think it would be worth it.

Never guess weight, you may be surprised how much a cardboard box and sealing tape weighs and then have a problem with weight limits.

You might get further discounts if you are a business customer/have some sort of extra subscription, but I don't know of any companies that require it.YvonneCrossland wrote:With parcel courier companies don't you have to be a business &/or pay a yearly fee?0 -
Try https://www.senditquick.com They charge a max of £10.49 for up to 30kgs and they collect from your home or work.
I've used them several times and found them to be great. They are also trackable online so if you've used paypal to receive the payment, you're covered should anything go wrong

Parcelforce http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw offer a collection and delivery service anywhere in the UK and it says you don't even need an account. See their tutorial for more information: http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/campaign/content1?catId=1400105&mediaId=15700210.
You can check the costs at the cost calculator http://www.pfwwsg.royalmail.com/servlet/acedispatcher?funcId=100&AceApplication=parcelforce&pageId=frameset - not sure whether it includes collection though, although I think on the page detailing that, it said providing the weight is under 10kg, collection and delivery is free.0 -
Thanks for all the great links, will get hubby to decide which to use tonight. Seller paid via Paypal for 2 of these sets with £40 postage (2 sets @£20 each) before I could send an invoice. Ebay was playing up last night & the 3rd set didn't show as sold til this morning although I knew it had sold to the same buyer. I have refunded this with a note saying you won the 3rd set so I'm refunding this payment & will sort postage costs out asap. Got to find a box big enough for them all now.
