Scottish Property... opinions?

The council tax is regressive and so people on lower incomes pay a higher % of their income on this tax. In your example, council tax would be 0.02% of household income, while someone with £20,000/year would perhaps pay £993 for a Band C property. This would be 5% of their income. This simply can't be seen as fair by anyone.
Of course it is fair. Fair to the older duffers, especially the pensioners, who want the young to work like slaves and pay all the bills whilst they kick back in their nice big homes and pay near no tax. A pure vote winner. The young deserve no fairness.
Slave away young workforce. Today's generation has positioned itself for a cushty retirement which they want you to pay for. Same for the English where you have to pay for all the unfunded pension obligations.
Perhaps with this more younger Scots will move to England where house prices look like they are cheaper.0 -
Want my opinion on Scottish property? It's cold, damp, smells of haggis, full of Scots and no one wants to live there.
mod: please note, Mewbie's crass comments do not reflect the opinions of this board.0 -
You forgot to mention the national dish is deep-fried mars bars washed down with copious quantities of special brew.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

No, I don't really want your insulting opinion on my country. Thanks anyway.
Please bear with me as I attempt to make things better.
cold. I believe it is cold in Scotland as compared to the rest of the country. Personally with that temperature I'd wear trousers rather than a skirt, but you guys are hardy types.
damp. Lots of rain I believe, hence the damp remark.
smells of haggis. I understood haggis was the national dish, implying a certain popularity. I also understand it has a fairly pungent aroma.
full of Scots. No denying that one. It must be full of scots, apart from those who choose to live in England.
no one wants to live there. This is obviously incorrect. Lots of people live there and want to.
I hope that's helped clear things up.0 -
It was a quick throwaway joke, but I can see now how offensive it really was. Believe me I am the last person on these boards to opt for a quick offensive little joke, as my many many friends on here will testify. In fact only the other day I offered up a little bon mot for approval first before posting, lest anyone should be offended by it.
Please bear with me as I attempt to make things better.

Indeed coldest place is Braemar
Personally with that temperature I'd wear trousers rather than a skirt, but you guys are hardy types. Never seen any guys wearing skirts but maybe I go to the wrong sort of places
damp. Lots of rain I believe, hence the damp remark. Wettest place in Britain is in Wales so a bit wide of the mark there
smells of haggis. I understood haggis was the national dish, implying a certain popularity. I also understand it has a fairly pungent aroma. Haggii have no noses so they don't smell
full of Scots. No denying that one. It must be full of scots, apart from those who choose to live in England. Sorry wrong there. Lots of people from all over the world in Scotland so it is not "full" of Scots
no one wants to live there. This is obviously incorrect. Lots of people live there and want to. Agreed
I hope that's helped clear things up.
It has now that I have corrected you misunderstandings0 -

I don't think the council tax is fair either. I just believe the alternative proposal of an income tax will have social and economic consequences detrimental to Scotland.0 -
I only use Firefox when I'm checking Rightmove - there's no problem with having both installed on your PC at the same time.
Houses are selling at below fixed price in many areas which is new.
Thanks for that. Bit of a technophobe here, I just assumed you could only run one browser on your comp!John
