I've been trying to ring them since 9.30 this morning, I just keep getting the same message - try again later.
I got through to the tax credit people straight away, which surprised me.
My daughter was meant to be retaking an A level at college which meant she would only be part time and therefore we wouldn't get CB/CTC any more - she has been to enrol today and they've told her if she doesn't go full time, she can't go at all, they can only get funding for her as a full time student - so she's having to retake all 3 A levels, seems a bit OTT as she passed them all and just wanted to get her maths up to b from d for Uni.
At least we'll get £120 a month until next August though.:T

It part of those incompitents at the Inland Revenue they rarely answer.
You can report things on-line if you can find the link?0 -

To be fair to Child Benefit they've got two really busy periods, the run up to April when benefits are increased and the last week of August/first week of September when children come off Child Benefit assessments. They'll be rushed off their feet. Aside from employing a vast number of temporary staff at taxpayers expense twice a year they just have to make do with what they've got.
The staff are to be applauded, all the social security staff in fact. They're the unsung heroes of the public service, if it weren't for them we'd have folks all over begging in the streets. They work long hours, their pay is crap & many staff receive Tax Credits to top up their own miserable wages, thousands of their colleagues have been paid off & hundreds of offices have been closed all over the country.
Anyway ... here's the link to report the change online ...

Thanks for the link but I've already been on it and I don't know my CB reference number! so it won't accept the details. DOH!
I can't find any paperwork, I thought it was with the tax credits stuff, but no.0 -

Your cb ref number will be on your bank statement next to a cb payment. Failing that check your bank statement onlines if you dont have a paper copy.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -

It probably is possible but if you can't get through to CBO helpline could you not set up a standing order with your bank?
That way you can have the amount that CBO pay you directly transfered to your daughter's bank account.0 -
I have always had my CB paid into my children's accounts, that way it has been easier to make sure I have the money for school shoes etc.(I never used to be very organised when I earnt well although these days I know where every single penny goes!)Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Well I'm glad to see it's not just me having problems getting through on their "so called" helpline. I've been trying for past 3 days at different times during the day, even early morning and late evening but still get the same message of "We are currently experiencing high call volumes and all our advisers are busy, we are sorry we couldn't answer your query, please try later", or something like that. Have they just literally put their phones on a constant message loop? I just want to query why all of a sudden they have stopped paying my eldest child's benefit, although he is 18 he is still at college attending 3 full days per week. In the end I sent them an email which has been acknowledged as being received and read but states that it could take up to 20 days to respond to!! :mad:0

couldn't she study a different subject if she doesn't need to resit the other two - seems a bit pointless for her to study the same work for no reason0
