How to pay for flights - credit or debit card?

Options
My husband was recently charged 1.3% fee by Virgin Atlantic for paying by credit card.

We are looking to book flights with Virgin again. These will cost over £2k and we resent paying the credit card fee; but by paying by debit card you don't get the protection given by credit cards if the company goes bust.

I can't imagine Virgin going bust but you never know ?!? How would you pay - credit or debit card?

By paying with debit card you also don't get any protection if "things go wrong"

i'd use another airline that doesn't charge 1.3% for using a credit card and then pay by credit card..

    okthxby
  • Try booking through a flight broker such as Expedia - they don't charge a credit card fee.
  • Or - buy holiday insurance - just in case it all goes horribly wrong, you'll be protected there

If you are going to book direct with Virgin, use a credit card as it offers protection if anything did happen. However as already suggested, you can book with other sites that don't charge a credit card fee
