  • throw it into a mice or stew dish, not the slow cooker though ( at least not til the end as the milk would curdle) the oats will disappear or use in the mix when making biscuits on days youre making them.
"Mice dish" I'll try that one later....Haha.
  • Add a little more milk or water and heat it up again ;)

I'll add this to the existing thread on this subject :D

Put it in the fridge. Warm some milk tomorrow and add the old porridge - as it warms up and you stir it will turn back into delicious porridge!

I now avoid this by measuring for porridge-making. 25g oats, 100ml milk, 100ml water per person

    Hi artydoll,

I would do as Greenbee suggests. There's an earlier thread with more ideas so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

I too have stopped throwing away porridge that my son leaves and either reheat it for a snack or from the fridge for next day's breakfast

  • I had a recipe for fishcakes - poach smoked haddock in a small amount of milk and then use the milk to make up porridge. Flake the fish and mix into the porridge, the same way that you would mix it into mashed potato. Season. Make it into cakes and roll in some more oats before shallow frying.

Assume you could do it with white fish, salmon, etc

Unless your portions are humongous, and use quantities of oats that would feed a small village, I'd just stick it on the compost or out for the birds. ;)
On the what to feed birds thread it is said it is not advisable to throw out cooked porridge to the birds as it can stick their beaks togther so they cannot feed any more.

I did this once last week and I feel really terrible now!:o
