leftover porridge - any ideas?

well the title says it all....I seem to have a whole portion of porridge left over & before it goes in the bin (or out to the birds) I wondered if anyone out there has a OS idea that I am unaware of - the only use I can see for it is for pointing brickwork :rotfl:

cheers bjb

Unless your portions are humongous, and use quantities of oats that would feed a small village, I'd just stick it on the compost or out for the birds. ;)

  • Are you taking about the oats themselves or cooked porridge?
If it's the latter, I quite often keep any left over porridge to eat later. Just add a bit more milk, stir it up, then heat in the micro. I sometimes have this for lunch.

  • Add to pancake/ pikelet batter, these taste great made like that.

Also, you can pop in fridge, and then heat later in microwave and have for pudding ( ). I have also added to bread pudding (note bread pudding is diff to bread and butter) and added to stuffing mix or meat loaf.

Pretty much anywhere I would use oats, I would use porridge, but add less liquid if that makes sense. Heated up and seasoned in some way you would never know if was even porridge.

Sorry if these ideas are a bit extreme lol :money:

Leave it for a day or two, then use it as an exfoliating scrub brush. Or to sand down the skirting board. :)

  • :rotfl: am loving some of your ideas!

I have finally decided I will re-heat it & serve to the kids for pudding with a few choc buttons or something, maybe even some stewed fruit so it'll be like rice pudding I guess

    hopefully it'll go down ok

  • Leftover porridge? Excuse me, but would you mind running that one past the tartan bits of my DNA again? :-)
