Any T Mobile billing experts in the house?

I have just got my first T Mobile bill for the K750i I got on the Link deal last weekend.

The price Plan is a Relax 200 (18) - which I don't see on the T Mobile web site. They just have what they call a "Relax 200 (12) Self Service" - I am presuming this is the same thing.

My bill shows that they appear to charge in monthly cycles starting on the 9th of each month - in my case 9/11. So, not only does my bill show a charge for a whole month - 9/11 to 8/12, but it shows an extra charge for one day - 8/11.

Now, given that I have been charged for the 8/11 - when the phone was only delivered on 10/11 is a bit rough, but the bill also shows that on 8/11 I had the entitlement to 5 free picture messages - which I obviously didn't use because I didn't have the phone.

I think I am getting a bit frisked by these T Mobile folk. Is anybody else seeing the same issues with T Mobile billing, or can tell me what these free Picture Messages are (do I get them every month?).

Thanks!

most mobile contracts bill in part months like this at the beginning and end
  • Every pay monthly customer is billed 1mth in advance - So on ur 1st bill, u would be charged also for the last couple of days use of the phone as well - teh fact that U were billed from the 8th, and not recieving the phone til the 10th would be the Links responsibilty - T-Mob can charge from when the account went acitve. The picture messages are free but are also pro rata'd therefore you would not have has the 5free to use in just 1day, You have been cheated out of anything.

Hope this makes you feel a bit better -

I think it's a ploy by the mobile networks to make a bit of money, I have recently moved from t-mobile to orange, my bill is billed on the 19th of each month and I was also charged by orange in the same way, 1 day the 18th as part month (the 18th was the day I got accepted by the network and a day after I ordered) and then advance charges.
This is not the only time it has happened I also have a o2 contract and so does another member of my family, my o2 contract is billed on the 21st and the other contract is billed on the 22nd they started a month apart and they were both billed in the same way as above.
I am pretty sure the mobile networks don't bill everyone on the same day, I have had this experience with Orange and o2, Woody has experienced it with T-mobile, have any others had the same with other networks.

Its really quite fair the way u are billed. Every network operates the same way - U are always billed in advance for ur free mins/txt's. - so as an example ...............

I get a new contract on the 1st of March - my bill is printed on the 4th of March - I will be billed from the 4th of March til the 4th of April - but i have been using my phone from the 1st of march so its only fair that i should be charged from this date - therefore its added onto my 1st bill..... So ur only paying for what u use -

There is no set date that networks will bill customers - but it is generally 5/6 days after ur contract begins. therefore this staggers the billing cycles from other customers...

    Sorry if i rambled on a bit .. :D

    I don't think so...

On the three occasions above that I have mentioned the network has billed us for 1 days usage that we are not able to make use of.
In your example I understand what you mean, but when you order your phone two days before the end of Feb, one day is taken to process your order (in my experience I have ordered online) and the network starts billing you the next day (last day of Feb), then charges you in advance for March you might get the phone a few days later. You can use your inclusive mins for the days you didn't have the phone in March, but what about the day of Feb that you have been billed for and the tariff you have the mins don't roll over, you've had to pay for a days worth that you could never use!

  • I see what mean Mrgreen (Im a poet as well) Hahaha ;)

U are automatically charged from when the account becomes active, I suppose thats one of the drawbacks from ordering online - The networks have no control over the delivery of the handsets once it leaves the warehouse - and this is certanily the case when ordered from an external dealer like dialaphone etc..... opposed to walking into a dealer and walking away with ur new handset and sim to use there and then, when u consider the amount of savings u make ordering online (cashback etc...) and perhaps the cost of trravelling to a dealer then the extra one off 50p/£1 is worth it.

I had the same grumble before but after working in the industry for several years - i changed my perspective -
  • The 5 picture messages are for a month from the date of connection. So if the phone was connected on 8th November, the 5 free picture messages will end on the 8th December or when you have sent 5 picture messages.

If in doubt, call 150 and go through the IVR and select the allowances section, it should detail that you have 5 picture messages. CS agent can also do a check for you and tell you the date when the picture messages drop off.

This is an offer for all new customers who join T-Mobile.

Thanks everybody - really appreciate your help on this.

I now know that I'm not being ripped off - wasn't a bad deal in the end, as it worked out (with the cash back and £10 for the old phone) as £9.66 per month for 200 X network minutes and a free K750i.

Oh, and 5 free pictures messages as well - that I didn't know I had!

Woody: Like you I have started a T-Mobile contract in the last few days and I've also had my first bill. Like you I bridled a bit at being charged for one day before I had even received the phone but when I worked it out how much that day had cost me, it was 34p.
For that sort of peanuts I'm not going to get any more worked up!
