Research questionnaire on mobile phone use while driving
Hello everyone,
I am hoping this post is OK with the forum moderators.
I am a postgraduate student at The University of Leeds studying Psychological Approaches to Health. I am currently conducting a research project and I am looking for people to fill in a questionnaire. The only requirements are that you are over 18, a driver, and own a mobile phone. The research is looking at people’s use of mobile phones while driving. It is not necessary that you have used a mobile phone while at the wheel. The questionnaire is anonymous and estimated to take around 15-25 minutes to complete. If you are able to spare some time to complete the questionnaire it would be very much appreciated.
I understand there are numerous criticisms possible of the questionnaire
although it is more the theory underlying the questions I am interested in, than mobile phone use itself. I am just trying a final drive to get the numbers up before I end the questionnaire and start doing some boring statistics
as I am very low on numbers of people from the UK.
The questionnaire is at http://www.an1.co.uk/limesurvey/index.p ... 11&lang=en along with further details.
Many thanks for your time.
Regards,
Alan.

I filled in your questionnaire.
I couldn't give honest answers to some of the questions, as you haven't distinguished between using a hand-held mobile, and using one in hands-free mode. In my opinion, this can make a crucial difference in terms of legality, safety and general acceptability.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

I have done the survey, but in all truth, some of the questions are really badly composed. I think I had to omit a number of them for that reason, whats with the treating people "humanely" or like "animals" when referring to other drivers or pedestrians?
And has the compiler of the survey never heard of hands free kits or bluetooth headsets? How is it possible to answer the question when the answers could be so different depending on whether the phone is hand-held or hands-free?====0 -

read the small paragraph at the top of each page,it implies using a handheld device. can you text via a bluetooth ear piece?...work permit granted!0 -

Although not sure of 'animals' myself - as they are likable, whereas humans quite often aren't.
The questionnaire wasn't about bluetooth... I didn't find any problems with the questions. I am very anti using the phone whilst driving so you can easily work out what my answers wereGenie
