You sound like a typical person who failed University and is now taking it out on people who decide to further their knowledge and education and actually want to learn instead of simply getting an apprenticeship which pays money.

You know any Tom, !!!!!! and Harry can go out and get an apprenticeship. I've seen some that require 1 GCSE at grades A-E. University requires 5 GCSE's at grade A-C (To get onto A Levels) and 3 A levels usuall in the A/B's and occasionally C's.

Don't come in here and put the people who work their assess off without a wage, down. In my eyes, the University Students get my respect.
Well, did not attend uni, chose to earn money and live my life and study part-time via OU, no GCSE, completed college, worked my way up to IT Manager within 12 Month, chosen for role over 12 uni grads who "apparently" knew what they were talking about yet failed the basic of basic technical questions...hmmmm  so, not done too bad for a non-uni person, what is a degree gonna get me? A blag in to a high paid job? And with regard to apprenticeships, there are very few that pay well...fact, the UK lack skilled trades like welders, joiners, electricians, plumbers etc etc, find me a student fresh out of uni with a degree in Electrical engineering who will be willing to drag their a$$ through the most dirty working environments you can think of for £20k per year....oooh no I will get my Gucci "fashionably, carefully ripped" jeans dirty and I might spoil my "knife and fork" hair cut.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

You were lucky. Times have changed and it's not like it was when you were a teenager. More and more people are doing A Levels and getting Degrees. As for finding a University student to do a crap job for 20k a year, that would be easy. Some University students go to class from 8am till 3pm then work all evening just so they wont be in so much debt when they've got their degree. It's easy to get an apprenticeship, work 9-5 and spend the money on alcohol/clubbing because you live with mummy and daddy and they don't charge any rent.

'A blag into a high paid job?'. The difference their is that YOU are the one that needs to blag, as you don't have a degree. A University student doesn't need to blag.
  • Jesus Christ some of you people are !!!!!!. Students don't get anything for free - we are charged above inflation interest rates on our loans and pay more tax due to the higher salaries we earn when we graduate.

I had 20 hours of lectures a week, and 15+ hours of preparation to to do for classes but still managed to work 25-30 hours a week to pay my bills.

Apprenticeships are heavily subsidised by the government.
