Egg Website

Is it just me that has this problem or is Eggs website 5hit for everyone?

I can get onto the website and sometimes i can hang around for quite a while but every single time it closes down and shuts the internet on me, no matter what.

I have tried for the last 20 minutes time and time again to get onto the website but it never ever lets me stay on for longer that 2 mins before shutting down the whole of my Internet and i then have to start again.

It always does it, does it only happen to me? I spoke with Egg before with regard to this but they said they couldnt understand what was going on and there was nothing they were able to do. Im going absolutly mad

I use egg often, from 4 different machines and never had the problems you describe. Have you checked you don't have a virus?

No my computer is fine, it has done it ever since i started using Egg, 2 years back, since then i have had a virus which completly wiped everything from my computer. I had the computer fixed, basically it was back to a new machine, everything was done that needed doing but yet again the same problems occured.

It only happens on Egg, every other site for everything is fine, no problems anywhere. Dont have a clue what is going on, its so annoying as well.

They do shut the site down late at night for maintance, if you have the problem during the day then you could well have a virus of some sort, as the previous poster has suggested..

It happens all day every day, all night every night. No matter what time of day it happens. If i had a virus surely other websites would be affected. There is nothing wrong with my computer anywhere in any shape or form except when i enter Egg. Its a nightmare.

Im going to run Antivirus, Spyware etc etc just to check again but i have done it numerous times over the past few months
  • Are you by any chance clicking on a link from an email they sent you?

These simply don't work - Egg admit it. Pathetic! Just type the whole address in, if this is yr problem! :D

You don't say what browser you are using but I guess it is IE? I know Egg doesn't work well with Firefox, but on IE it works totally reliably for me

In any case, try deleting your cookies and your temp Internet files, you may have some duff data hanging around.
  • Check your internet security option settings (on IE 'Tools').

I use the egg website a few times a week for over 3 years now - using Firefox for the last 2 years or so and never ever had any problems with the site.

Strange its happening to the OP.

Have they got restrictions on their firewall / router / internet security software?

Maybe a message to the technical dept may shed some light.

I get a similar problem with Egg site. Not everytime, but sometimes I click on one of their links such as 'Help' etc. and it just shuts down. Have emailed Egg in the past and they say there's nothing wrong with their site. Has never happened to me with anyonme else and I regularly check for viruses etc.

Those that are having problems, are you using Norton Internet Security from Symantec?

I know someone who had this problem and Egg advised them to change their Internet Explorer cache settings as follows:
    • Go to Tools -> Internet Options
    • In Temporary Internet Files, press the Settings... button
    • Change the setting for Check for newer versions of stored pages to "Every visit to the page"
    • Click OK on both dialogs to close them
This significantly reduced the frequency of IE disappearing unexpectedly, but didn't fix it entirely. It appears to be a bug in Norton.
