Hope everyone is having a nice evening. I've just found this site having just read Martin's book Money Diet.
I had my lightbulb moment a couple of weeks back and have been trawling the car boot sales hoping to make a profit on ebay. Glad to say I've made £25 but I've got a long way to go.
A little about me, I'm a stay at home mum with a new part time business in Warrington. My boys are 2 and the other is 11 months. Time is flying because I can't believe my little one is almost 1!!! Unfortunately DH was made redundant on Friday so we seem to be up the creek, but fingers crossed things will look up quickly.
Thanks for reading and hoping to chat soon
Hi there kanga!
sorry to hear things are tough for ya...
If you fancy getting some advice specific to your circumstances why not post a new thread specifically for your story, a diary type thing.... there are loads of great people on here who give great advice.... alternatively just stick around the daily chats and enjoy the banter...!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

I would like to cut my hours, go part time.....
I left work today after 12 o'clock as was still a bit poorly from weekend, was fab to have a half day.... it made me wish that we could afford for me to work part time... it would be lovely to be home every day to make tea and be there for erin when she came home every day.......
I currently get £18,500 for 40 hours a week.....
so if i cut my hours to finish at 3pm each day losing 12.5 hours per week.....
i would get..... roughly £12,800 for a part time of 27.5 hours per week....
Hmmmmn i wonder if boss would go for that? could i afford it....... i suppose tax credits would go up, eh?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
If you go under 30 hours, then you'll actually lose some Tax Credits Maz.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Is that true??! oh no.... only dreaming at the moment but something to consider....
The trouble is my job is not a full time role, although it is within full time hours... really full time, 40hours as opposed to even 37.5!
The same amount of work would get done, but they could pay me less... although i might end up spending less time on MSE if i was busier! which would be a tragedy!
i also have time to study at work just now and they don't object to that... so again something to consider cause i doubt i would be regimented enough with myself to study as much at home, although i do a little, but most of it at work....I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0
