I am looking for a sim only contract that will prvoide me with around 300 texts a month and 100 minutes per month and unlimited internet browsing is there one around?

Yes with O2 you get 600 mins and 1000 texts plus unlimited browsing or unlimited o2 - o2 calls for £20 per month here

Can i have a normal Pay as you go sim card from Orange/Vodaphone/02 and do they offer a bolt on service for internet access?

Yes you can but I would stick with O2 with the sim only plan, I have T-Mobile and it costs £2.50 for unlimited browsing for 5 days, there is an O2 package that costs £15 per month that will give you free internet, and I think you will struggle to find better than that.
