  • Afternoon fly ladies,

Does flying at my mums house count?:confused:

She had surgery about a month ago (she's 74) and hasn't been able to get out into the garden since. So PLEASE tell me that 2 hours pulling weeds and tidying the garden counts!!!

I'll barely have the energy to tidy and cook dinner now!!

I have done the basics but that's me pooped for at least the next 2 hours.

    Hi everyone,

Well the trip to the doctor with the elderly neigbour took a lot longer than expected. We got down there for 10.45 (appt at 11) and I dropped her off, and then had to find somewhere to park as the doctor's surgery carpark had been closed to stop shoppers using it! Anyway, found a space quite quickly, and a nice young guy gave up his seat for me so that I could sit next to my neighbour in the waiting room. When my neighbour was called in, I got a phonecall from the supply agency asking if I'd be interested in a regular supply Tues & Wed doing PPA cover for year 5 & 6 in a challenging school. I said yes, as it's only up until half term and at least it'll be regular work - am waiting to hear back whether they choose me though. Anyway, she had her doctor's appointment on time (wish my surgery were like that) and then we had to go to the pharmacy to pick up her wodge of prescriptions - they took forever!!! They didn't have all of the things she needed either, so they gave her an owing note, so then we had to stop off at her neice's house on the way back, to ask her to pick it up tomorrow. She offered us a cup of tea, and it was 1pm by the time I got home! Had lunch, watched TV, then the internet wouldn't work again! Got it to work again, so I'm back.

Serena I'm really glad that they've no longer got you doing the Spanish lessons. The policy in our school was meant to be that the lessons for the following week were up on our wall on the Friday before so the head could check them, but they never were up in time, and I don't think he ever checked either. Can you not meet up with the teacher who is sharing the lessons with you? It would make much more sense than trying to guess what each other is doing. Plus you may end up duplicating work.

Right I'm off to find out more about this potential school I may work in. One of my friends did supply there and said she'd never go back again, but I've been assured that they aren't as bad as one of the other schools I've done regular supply in. It's very windy here at the moment, and I'm starting to feel chilly - will have to close the windows again methinks.

Will check in in a bit. Well done to all of you who've flown today.

    sexymouse xx

Ali - we'll shiver together and think of ways to keep warm (Pigpen - no rude answers please, I think we all know how you keep warm;) :rotfl: ) xx

You do.. I have an extra duvet which is mine and I often drag it downstairs and slob on the sofa under it and have a kip..

Exercise is a fabulous way to keep warm too.. a nice brisk walk or a few star jumps and there you go.. instant heat!

Try this for a start.. I use turbolister but for one at a time items which I would advise at first I'd go for the easy option!

  • Can anyone suggest nutritious cheap homemade yummy dinners? Or threads for them? Preferably that don't involve hot dogs or 6p noodles? I've made wicked veg chilli with lentils and carrots as the main ingredient, but I'm really struggling with ideas...

There are some great recipes on the Grocery Challenge - I know they are trying to sort that out at the mo, but if you go to the very first page of the challenge, you will see a post of just recipes (no 6p noodles in site!) and some great ways to 'bulk' stuff to get more and freeze for later...

tiddles snoring in the pushchair.. it is SO tiring being back at nursery!

Did nothing except load the DW this afternoon as my sister came round with her bump so we talked babies and compared who has the most appointments to attend! Great fun. I also palmed off 1.5 binbags of fabric on her.. that'll keep her busy for a while I hope!! And I STILL have tonnes.. BUT I have a half empty crate under the stairs which can have the stacking box emtied into it and I will have a lidded stacking box to reuse for something useful... like... erm... erm... well I'm sure I'll think of something.

And I broke a nail putting the parcels in the basket under the buggy.. ggrrrr....
