All this talk about future (January 2005) speed upgrades has had me looking more closely at their services.

This grumble will NOT affect everbody, but it is something you need to take into consideration if choosing to change from BT based ADSL over to cable services such as NTL.

Wanadoo as an example has a download speed of 512kbps & an upload speed of 256kbps and is known as 512/256. The last figure is not important to the vast majority of users; but if you send large e-mails, host your own website & use FTP clients etc it's very important.

The equivilant NTL service is the 750kbps one which they clearly state is better value for money, which I consider to be a lie. The upload limit on this service is 128kbps, no wonder I have complained about slow uploads on other threads..... It's half that of regular BB suppliers and this causes me concern...... >:(

Feel free to add your thoughts to this thread I intend to take this up with NTL as soon as they open on Monday.

    Bump!! :D

Surely I can't be the only person whom has upgraded to cable from a BT based BB supplier?

Am I the only one whom send rather large e-mail, uploads photos & uses FTP type clients to upload to web servers?

Monday loom's I will be speaking with them about this.
  • Tony, you're lucky you even get cable with NTL. Our service from them is so bad we can't even get it or interactive TV as the cabling is not good enough!!

I have called them many times to complain as we still pay the same but they're useless

The NTL service today has been even worse than usual, as some computer system has been down most of the day, and calling their Customer Solutions number just resulted in a busy tone, followed a few moments later by the line being cut.

I am coming to the end of my Broadband trial, and wanted to cancel the service and go back to dial-up (for the moment, before I leave NTL for all their services, TV, phone, and internet). If I don't cancel in the next day or so, NTL will by default force me onto their 12 month contract.

NTL's normal customer relations people say they cannot handle disconnections, only Customer Solutions can do that, but I can't get through to the latter.

Has anyone else had problems getting away from NTL, and how did you do it.

    Help!

if are you coming to the end of 12 months, i dont think they can force you into another 12 months if you dont cancel. you just stay on the same deals until you cancel...

No, I was on the NTL dial-up service, and have taken up their offer of a free 2 month's trial period of broadband, to make a decision on whether to stay with NTL or not. People have to come out of the trial before the 60 days, or else by default they are in a 12 months contract.

I'm finding that NTL are making it impossible to terminate the trial before the 60 days.

My problem has been resolved to my satisfaction, I will start a new thread outlining the problem & the solution offered to me.

An absolute must read for those whom have joined NTL 750kbps service from a BT based adsl provider......
