Who to chose?

Well BT hassling me to sign a new contract but want to switch providers. Looked at Namesco as been recommended but they have a limit on download of 1GB per month (there could be 3 of us online at one time so not sure if we would exceed this? Dont download games or movies, just the odd music track...any advice?).
Other than that havent got a clue. Got sky so looked at that but there £5 per month deal was £17 per month for us!!! Looked at plusnet byut heard they were BT owned?
Could we use the hub and the wireless adaptor in our pc to go with someone else without having to buy another wireless router?
As you can see I havent a clue so any help appreciated. We do use the internet every day but generally for surfing, school stuff etc etc
Plus I also edit a preschool website which when I started up I was told that they would take my IP address so how would this affect me being able to edit my site if I changed provider?

Have you checked http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php to see what is available in your area?

1 GB of download is very low - download doesn't just relate to music, games, movies that you download - every web page that you visit, every email that you send, every email that you receive counts towards your "download" - with 3 of you online everyday surfing - well I'm sure you can see that it will add up.

I'm also with BT and they were hassling me to sign up to a new contract but I explained that I was moving soon and they're happy for me to be on a month to month contract - yes I know that I'm paying a lot more than I could be but I don't want to be tied to a provider as I will be looking to do a "bundle" when I move out.

The above site is a good one - although in my area there are only the major companies that I would be able to go with.

    You could also try http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/?source=nav
  • Well just been on the samknows website and its all crosses! With this,

    Market 1
This exchange has BT Wholesale as the sole provider of broadband services.

So deos that mean its BT or nothing.

    Wireless broadband capability had this,

    EMNET Notts: Enabled
So off to check this out!

    Simply No

Just means their are no LLU's in your area or cable providers these normally offer ADSL2+.

Any provider that offers 8mb broadband will be able to sign you up on IP-Stream I can recommend Enternet I was with UKFSN but their is also ADSL24.

You will find most of them listed here:

As one of the other posts said also have a look at uswitch but besides that
