A query from a Mobile Phone Simpleton...

..I am staggered at the amount of technical knowledge on here, so could anyone answer my query, bearing in mind I am the worst sort of simpleton when it comes to phones, I know nothing!
I have a Tesco mobile phone. It is PAYG. I have sent for a Tesco SIM with an offer on it for free texts if you top up by £15 per month.
Now...in syllables of two or less:
- How do I change the SIM?
- What happens to any unused credit on my phone when I change SIM?
- How do I transfer contact details?
- Does changing the SIM change the number of my phone (well I don't know! I told you, I am totally clueless)
- What else do I need to know?
If anyone has the time to answer this, I would be most grateful. I thank 'ee!

You change the sim by opening up the phone and swapping it with the one that's already in there (be careful - can be tricky - check your phone manual).
Existing credit on the original sim will stay with it (but you won't be able to spend it unless you put it in a phone), so maybe spend it first before you put the new one in.
Your number will change - each sim will have its own phone number.
Before embarking on this, you can copy all your contacts from the first sim to the phone (see manual - there will be a way to do this using the phone menus), and then when you put the second sim in you can copy from the phone to the new sim.0 -
If you are already with Tesco you should not need to change your sim. Ring up customer services and ask them to transfer your current sim to the £15 a month deal.. It should be as easy as a tariff change.0
