Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help my problem is AOL. I'v recently switched isp from Aol and it took over a month to get them to give me a mac code even tho they are required to by law if I request one I finaly got one and went to my new isp now after I checked my bank account statement I find that AOL are still taking money out without my permission and when I challenged them about this they admitted they had taken it and said that it would take 28 days to refund me the money they had taken. My present isp says this is ridiculous and they are taking the michiel HELP!

Get in touch with your bank, if the DD is a mistake ask the bank to do a charge back under the DD garauntee ( i cant spell it!!!) to get your cash back

As the above poster said, you need to file an indemnity claim under the direct debit guarantee. This should get you your money back within 24 hours.

did you actually call AOL after you migrated to say you had left, and to make sure your account is closed?

... yes, it does happen - and a phonecall just after is better than a long wait for moneyback.... everyone should check really!

herald, I know the problem you're having, I quit AOL just recently, followed all the rules, phoned them to cancel, got the four figure cancellation code, and yet they still approached my bank for payment, fortunately I had cancelled the direct debit arrangement.
Had to phone them again to finally get it sorted out and stop them approaching my bank for payment, fingers crossed.

yes I did and I recieved a letter to say my account was closed however I rang again this morning to check again and they have taken another 9.99 so I asked for their directors name and I have written a formal letter of complaint to the person whether it will do any good remains to be seen
