If I had taken on a part time job at minimum wage I'd be much better off by now. This thread is missing a lot of the original posters and I suspect many of them may have abandoned it. I have delivered brochures and posted them out to friends and family and no orders! I feel so discouraged. I might have more luck doing a craft fair but they cost at least £20 for a table and I would have to buy in loads of stock so I am reluctant to try that. There are posts on this thread that say toddler groups and the like don't really get great sales either!
Hiya,
This business is great!! Have a look in the genealogy on the phoenix website, and look for the "ET" Contact them and tell them its naff, and ask how to improve. Their role is to support you in your venture, so they should re motivate u. But... u get good and bad ET's like you get good and bad Hairdressers
Paul n Julia.
ps A lot of people here think the money should roll in, we've been doing this for a year and I must do the accounts. I'll let u no wot we did, but we've probably broken even. The success comes in 5- 10 years if you're brave enough to stick it out and work at it, you can earn more money in a month than I earn in a year!!
pps this can be proved to Phoenix traders.as it was shown on the recent trader shows.

Hi,
Just to let those who are interested that I shall be putting the remainder of my stock on eBay on Sunday as well as the display 'units'.
And for those that are feeling a little discouraged, have a coffee morning at your house. Invite your friends. Give them a drink and cake and bring out the cards! That's how I started.
By the way, I love the products but cannot devote the time required to sell them. I had to put my business on hold 3 years ago and haven't got around to really starting it again.

Hiya Everyone
Just wanted to post my first thread and say how great this is! I have been thinking about starting Phoenix for ages as i love the cards. Went to my friend's coffee morning the other day, spent 10 pounds from her stock items and then filled in an order for a further 20 pounds. I spend so much with phoenix that i decided 'enough is enough, im going to take the plunge'. Setting up by yourself can seem scary but it strikes me that you have loads of support from Phoenix so im not worried. Im waiting for my info pack at the mo and cant wait to get started.
Wanted to know if there are any other local traders who wanted to swap ideas. I live in Lisburn, County Antrim. Also wanted to know if anyone had any advice about the starter packs? I have 2 young children and am only doing this as a hobbie/small earner so dont want to put too much pressure on. I am wobbling between just paying the reg fee of 45 pounds or getting the fifty or one hundred pound packs, really not sure!
Thanks a million.0 -

Hi Everyone,
I am considering becoming a Phoenix Trader. I was wondering about buying the Special Introductory packs. What do you get in these packs? Do you get to choose the selection yourself? Are they good value?
I would really appreciate some advise.0 -
OMG It is going from bad to worse for me.... I posted out about 20 brochures to friends and family with carefully handwritten notes (I don't have a printer - PT must assume everyone has one as that requirement wasn't mentioned anywhere when I signed up), sample cards and order forms all in pink envelopes and stuck large stamps on the front. I went into the post office to check they had enough postage and was assured that they did..... only to find out today when I called a couple of my close friends to see if they received their packs that they didn't have enough postage and everyone will have to collect them from the depot and pay £1.42 for it:eek::eek::eek:. I could cry, I really could....this is costing me more and more money. Now I will have to reimburse all my friends and family! And who would order from someone so incompetant. I woke up with my attitude renewed and a new enthusiasm but now this....
:(:(:wall:

Lalaladybird, sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.... learn from it and move forward. The Post office can be notoriously unreliable with that sort of thing.... I've had similar issues sending xmas cards.
Don't give up!
Invest in a printer... you can pick one up for as little as £20 -£30. And as for PT not stating a printer as a requirement. It is usually assumed by most that those who have a computer also have a printer.
You will get going, stick with it!!0 -
I'm seriously confused now... I've just been trying to sort out my first stall booking at a local fair... Apparently I have to have indemnity insurance to cover a minimum of £5000000! No where did PT mention that that was required before you could sell on a stall!!0

You have indemnity insurance through Phoenix already. I can't remember which newsletter it was in - before Christmas I think. If you go to the downloads section of the website and scan through the past UK newsletters you'll find an article on the insurance and the details of how to get your very own certificate.
When you go to the insurance broker's website that they send you to, it's a bit terrifying, because the button says buy cover now (or similar), but put in the details that they say, and yours, and you'll get your own certificate to show the fair organisers.
