Help ! Car Insurance For Professional Footballer

JANEG
Wonder if anyone can give me advice for my sons car insurance. We have been trying to get a reasonable quote due to his profession being a professional footballer. The quote jumps from last years premium around £1200 as an apprentice footballer / student to £4000+ as he has now signed a 3 yr deal as a pro footballer. He is NOT earning big money or making a regular appearance in the 1st team but due to his profession we are faced with a HUGE insurance premium for him. I have phoned various companies and the reason for him classed as a high risk profession is the fact that he may be chased by the paparazzi in his car and is therefore a high risk. I doubt anyone would even know who he is .......... the monthly premium we are facing is more than his monthly wage. Can anyone advise PLEASE ? Many thanks indeed.

Too be honest you're probably best going through a local broker either an independant one or try swinton or the AA because they might be able to get you a number of different quotes.
it really depends on whether its a premiership or championship club because some direct companies would just decline cover altogether.0 -
The actual reason for the high rates is that as a professional footballer it is likely that he will have close friendships with other professional footballers, and such he is far more likely than the average person to have a professional footballer travelling as a passenger. If he is involved in an accident that results in injury to his footballing passenger, the insurer will be faced with an enormous personal injury claim, especially for talented young footballers with potentially gigantic loss of future earnings. Your best bet will be brokers, perhaps also get in touch with the PFA to see if they have any suggestions - have a look on their website here:

Get him to ask the other players or the club. Quite often the clubs or players willl have brokers or advisers that handle the affairs of many of the team.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

He needs to go through the club. I know a few pro rugby players and the clubs are clued up on specialist brokers.0

if he is earning less than £4k per annum on a pro deal he probably should be getting a new agent not a car? does he 'work' elsewhere that e could put down as primary occupation instead?0

Milestone luv football!! If you call ask for the commercial dept as this is not a normal PC quote and you need to speak to someone who will take details and negotiate with the ins companies!!
Tell them want you want and they will try and get it for you!!

Not a good idea.
Must disclose the football anyway, and it'll send the price rocketing whether it's full or part time0 -
Doesn't he have an agent yet to sort this out?0

Two companies who specialize in professional footballers are
Henshalls 0800 064 3757

The PFA had a scheme going at one time (managed by Heath Lambert I think) - it may be worth speaking to the PFA rep at the club to see. Also, try Cheam Insurance Brokers (02086527733) as I believe that they specialise in "high risk" occupations. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0
