When we moved into our house a couple of years ago the previous owner had a dog.... and the house was infested with fleas! They bit my lower legs to death (Still have the scars) and were a nightmare. Various sprays/bombs didn't seem to work, even the ones that claimed to get the eggs (Which are impervious to many sprays etc.)
We contacted the council about getting someone to spray the house, which they did and for FREE! We're not council tenants either, we own the house. If you're still having problems with fleas, get in touch with your council, they should come over and spray your house for free.
They can't breed without a cat or a dog by the way, it's probably the last few eggs hatching that you have now - get the council in though to make sure and kill those last few off, at least for your peace of mind. They can't breed by feeding off humans either - it can keep the fleas alive but they can't reproduce - though they had a good attempt by feeding off me lol!Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0 -
Are you sure about that? Does our blood have an adverse reaction to their breeding abilities?0

I remember reading about it on a couple of sites when I was searching for info on fleas and getting rid of them. I'm just having some lunch before going to work, I'll see if I can find a bit more on it and some links when I get home.Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0

Ok so im ready to cry now!
We've just picked up over 20 in the hallway alone, 3 in my daughters bedroom and ive been biten again on my foot. Both me and my boyfriend are feeling very low now. We've spent around £70 on flea treatments that havent worked and have nothing left this month to pay the council or anyone else. Id spent two days rewashing all the laundry in my house but seen as they are everywhere im presuming all my clean claundry will also be infested. I took my sons t shirt out of the washing machine this morning to hang on the line and it had a flea on it! My daughter starts reception tommorrow morning, my son has his first day at nursery on thursday and i start my new job on thursday. All the time we are going to be covered in fleas.
Greatgimp, yes we sprayed the car that was my boyfriends first thing after id sprayed the house. I sprayed every nook and cranny in the house, under floorboards in the bathroom, and hoovered regularly. I wouldnt mind but i have leather sofas and laminate floors! Why is there so many!!! I cant believe the house is this bad!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

Ohhh I can so understand that low and it's horible, I was ready to throw everthing out and washed all house furnishing with disinfectant at one stage
Just an update as we have recently had fleas and used Acclaim (amongst other remadies). It's a week and a half later and we are still seeing one or two fleas. I am presuming that these are from eggs that have hatched after treatment with Acclaim, they are getting fewer and smaller for some reason But the boogers are going, oh and my mum who had a really bad reaction to bites requiring antibiotics can now walk thro the house in saftey
I know the Acclaim is working cause I keep finding lots of dead ear wiggy things  I know you mentioned you have a leather suit but remember to spray the underneath of this as I think they are fabric even on leather onesMortgage Owed: Sept 14 - £107398.200 -
You're not doing yourself any favours! You should spray the surfaces as recommended on the can, but then DO NOT vacuum. Accept that your floors and carpets will need vacuuming but DON'T do it, at least for a week. You're putting the stuff down and then sucking it all up again! Acclaim is a residual insecticide - let it do its work throughout all the stages of the life cycle of the flea. I'm not surprised you're only getting a minor success.
I've read the instructions on the can and it doesn't mention this, but they are in the business of selling as many as they can.
Tell me you're going to vacuum thoroughly, spray as necessary, then DO NOT vacuum for at least a week.0 -

I thought that 2 days woud be sufficient without hoovering. I have two toddlers who make rather a lot of mess however they are away this weekend with their father so i may perhaps make the most and spray the house tommorrow again. Then they only really have a few days early next week when their home to amke a mess. The only other thing was it made my skin crawl when i could see flea looking things on the aminate and i was unsure if they were dead or alive!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

You could always pick it up with a bit of sellotape, and push your fingernail in it to be sure.0

Great gimp you gave me a fantastic idea i think we should go into business. I turned my sweeping brush upside down and created a sticky pad on the end using lots of folded up sallotape and went round prodding the little mites that keep poppingout and hey iv caught 4 already. Do you know what really makes me smile the fact that some of them were still wigging a little bit haha!
