Help !!!! Nokia phone died!
I have a Nokia phone PAYG with T-Mobile. It suddenly decided yesterday not to let me make calls. I can ring people but I can't tell when they have answered. I keep trying and everyone gets frustrated. I can send messages. I went to T-Mobile today who told me to go to a shop for help. This shop were quite unhelpful and said it is out of warranty, I got it for Christmas 2006 so it ran out of warranty at the end of last year. As it is out of warranty, they said there was nothing to do but send it back to T-Mobile which would cost quite a bit.
Has anyone any advice please? The man in T-Mobile said I could go on the website and do something but he didn't specify what I should do. I am going on holiday on Monday and I so don't need my phone to be useless just at the moment!

I believe all nokias have 24 month manufacturer warranties. (which is the only way they can justify 24 month contracts) Look for a nokia service centre near you, there are quite a few about.
Tmobile may have only quoted there own warranty.0 -
what model is it?baldly going on...0

nokia's have a 24 month warranty now days0
-
if you have a supported model, try the nokia software update0

Sorry, haven't been online. Had a big birthday bash last night and just recovering now.......
The model is a 6020. One of the repair shops went online and said it was out of warranty last October as it was then one year old. I wonder if it is a two year warranty, in which case, if i get on with it, I might just squeeze in!
I will go on that link now and see how I get on. What's a supported model mean please?
Thanks for your help.0 -
Have you tried resetting the phone (works with some Nokias)
Here are 2 ways;
type *#7370# or
'Some Nokias can be reset by holding down the folowing keys
'green handset'
'*'
'3'
Then press the power on and hold the keys until the phone starts.
If your phone is fluffed then you have nothing to lose, but you do these things at your peril. Be warnedbaldly going on...0 -

the only problem with your phone is the earpiece, it just needs replacing. post here your imei number from your phone and i will tell you if it is still in warranty or not. i have access to the nokia warranty database.

So, the next question is, what's the imei number and where do I find it please?0

It's the unique handset identity number. Stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. Some people don't like giving theirs out, but I don't know why. If you want to see what it reveals about your phone, have a look here.
Find yours either by keying in *#06# (you may or may not have to then press dial - don't worry, it wont cost you anything) or pop the case open and look under the battery.*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps.
