ok. So your aware, limewire is ridden with viruses, and it was probably the WINRAR file that had one. Ive never heard of 'bit download, and on initial googling, nothings popped up :s
But torrent programs are completely different to the way limewire works as you have to go onto actual websites to download something (the initial TORRENT file) which tells your bittorrent program what to download.
Having said that, as ive never actually heard of 'bit download' its quite possible that THATS what the virus was in! Where do you get it from? Did you actually try to download anything with it?
Also, Mcafee must be a bit pap as my avg would stop anything I was downloading if it had a virus in!

On top of that you can get a legit free version of winrar.

Ohhh shall I uninstall Limewire???? Before this, only downloading like a song a week it was fine???
Also yes it was called Bit Download I know as I have still a folder for it in my recycle bin I can send it to you if you like :D
O/J, shall I delete it from recycle bin too??

My McAfee has always been good and if I downloaded an infected file it would warn me!

So if I restore to last month should all this disappear???

On top of that, last night it asked me to Install Vista Service Pack 1 (one of many I have already downloaded), after downloading part 3 of 3 it sais.

SERVICE PACK DID NOT INSTALL. REVERTING CHANGES

And every time I start the computer now I get this too

    error.jpg

Please dont give up on me!!

I have downloaded that thanks but need to be prepared to do Vista Recovery and the instructions scare me:eek:
I want to print those tomorrow and need to ask. My laptop came with XP but with free Vista Upgrade. So the TechGuys sent me the Vista upgrade install.

If I need to reinstall do I need to install XP then Vista or can I just put on the Vista upgrade CD???

Put it this way, the forum rules don't even allow discussion of filesharing programs. Although they can be used legitimately they're also use a lot for illegal practices (downloading copyrighted material etc, I hope the songs you downloaded were legal) and anything that expedites illegal practices will also attract malicious intent as well, viruses etc.

In my experience McAfee has always been rubbish at virus detection and removal so you may want to uninstall it and use something like Avast, Antivir etc.

Well I would def uninstall limewire yes (If you want a little more advice on that you can PM me)

And Mcafee obviously didnt know that the rar files were infected (But again, as soonas I unrar AVg WILL pop up telling me therers a nasty in it). I REALLY recommend against using Norton and McAfee.
