Save my soup! Soup problems thread.

I decided to try and be really OS today and turn some bendy carrots into a spicy carrot soup, but all I've ended up with is an inedible mess.
I threw in some harissa spice mix, and the result is a soup that's uncomfortably spicy while also being unpleasantly bland - it tastes like I threw some chillies into boiling water and called it soup. _pale_
Does anyone have any ideas on how to rescue it, preferably using store-cupboard items only as I don't want to visit the shops just for this!Back after a very long break!0 -
I`d chuck in a tin of chopped tomatoes & whizz them in. IF you had a bunch of fresh coriander that needed using that`d be ideal too.0

I haven't got any tinned toms at the moment - do you think tomato puree would work? I've got to open a large tin of the stuff for dinner tonight, so it would be rather convenient if it would!Back after a very long break!0

Don`t see why not! And maybe some lightly fried onion whizzed in? It sounded like you were saying the soup was watery/spicy, so I was thinking add tasty/bulky.0

What about some cooked potato ........... - but not so much that it goes 'starchy'.0

red lentils to bulk it out a bit? and I'd say the tomato paste would be fine, maybe with a tsp sugar to stop it being too sharp.0

Great ideas, everyone - thanks very much. :T Working from what I've got, I'm going for red lentils, tomato puree and a little bit of sugar: I'll let you know how it turns out shortly.

I'd add lentils, or sweet potato, and I agree with some tomato (puree should be fine) and a small spoonful of sugar.
Or even a tin of beans or chickpeas mashed (if you only have baked beans you can still wash off the sauce and use them).A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Spicy carrot, tomato and lentil soup isn't bad at all, and certainly better than my earlier effort. Thanks again, everyone. :TBack after a very long break!0
