I'm confused
. If my phone line is with BT but my broadband is provided by a LLU ADSL operator like O2, if I decide to change ISP what charges and how much am I likely to face in switching to
1) another LLU ADSL broadband provider
2 a non LLU ADSL broadband provider
??
(assuming I am outside minimum term contract period.)

LLU just means you where switched to 02's equipment if you want to leave and you are out of your contract all you do is open a ticket or ring o2 and ask for your mac code.
Once you are given your mac code you give that to your new ADSL provider and then they get bt to put you back on to IP-Stream if you are not going to another LLU if your changing to a new LLU then you will be moved over to the new equipment.
You should not be charged for leaving unless your still in your contract period. Also read the terms and conditions of your new provider.
On a side not some isp's give you your mac in 24 hours but they don't have to give it you straight away they have a week in which to provide it to you so you know. More info here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consumeradvice/internet/service/switch/mac/Kind Regards

At the moment I'm with a non LLU ISP but I'm thinking about signing up to O2 (which is LLU) so am just trying to anticipate any future problems ie costs if it doesn't work out and I want to move to another provider.0

My friend went with O2 and he said the support when connecting is the best he has ever experenced as they rang him every step of the way when he was migrating over to them and after he was connected they contacted him again to make sure he was happy.
For all isp and isp ratings / comparisons check these forums out: http://www.dslzoneuk.net/

at the moment you'll pay a migration charge of around £35/£40 (for LLU to non-LLU)....
unless you go to some sort of long term contract thing then that ISP may let you migrate in for free.... but it may not be possible...0 -

That's not totally true BE* set-up fee is waved if your referred or you can get them to personally wave it.Kind Regards

i didn't say they don't (and by the way, if they did charge you to migrate - then in a way it breaks Ofcom's rules about charging for MAC's - totally different from a cancellation or setup fee!)
..... i make it a little simplier (and clearer) - if you go from O2/Be* (if on LLU) to BT (or any other non-LLU provider) - then it is possible that the winning ISP (in this case BT), will charge £35/£40 to convert your line from LLU to non-LLU (as it is addittional work that Openreach has to do).
It is possible that it could be done for free, but then you'll definantly have some sort of minimum contract being 12 months or more.0
