npower price rises

As several people have said, it's not Martin's fault. He can only make recommendations based on the information he has. I have saved far more money from Martin's other recommendations than I might have lost through this.
However, mbailey, don't despair. You will probably get a call from Powergen asking if you really want to change to Npower, and then a letter. Even at this late stage (I swapped towards the end of Oct), I have been able to stop it. Try calling Powergen if it's not all gone through already - they will probably be all too willing to halt the changeover.0 -

I did say it was my decision to swap, but when you have someone as powerful and as respected as Martin telling you "Now is the time to swap" you are more likely to act. If just another forum member published an article saying swap now then to be honest I would have probably ignored it. As I mentioned I do not blame Martin, but I think he needs to be careful what he says in the position he is in.
Thanks for the advice on cancelling - I'll be on the phone to Powergen tomorrow seeing if they can stop the transfer.0 -
I spoke with Npower on the phone today and they said it was too late to cancel as my transfer request was ongoing in the system. They suggested I call powergen (old company) as they might be able to stop the transfer.
I called Powergen and the guy laughed. He told me that almost all calls he had received today were people who had switched from powergen to npower and with the npower increases wanted to come back to powergen! He then said the transfer was stopped from his side although there was a chance it might go wrong but should be ok.
I guess I have to wait for powergen to increases prices now... :-)0
