Hi purpleroses - like the new name.. despite the circumstances.
Thanks Horace et al - been shopping today:eek: but made the most of bodyshop 20% off.. getting ready for Christmas:j
Just back from hols & haven't caught up properly yet, but feeling proud of myself!
Thanks to Martin opened a Nationwide account & have saved at least £30 using that for cash in Corfu compared with exchanging here before we went.
Also, todays shopping trip was to take back bather I bought from M&S in case the cheaper one I ordered didn't arrive in time - it came the day we left so £9.50 saved there & I actually took it back!!:j
Also took back Dh shorts to Debenhams & used £5 off vouchers for new work clothes.. lovely man at pay desk .. I asked do I need to split the purchases to make most of £5 vouchers.. he said yes.. sorted it out for me & in fact gave me £5 too much discount:j
Decided to use returned money to buy slow cooker - was priced at £35 (big one) used £5 off voucher but was only charged £20!!!:j
So A good morning 'shopping' for me!!
See you all in October:rotfl:0 -

I'm impressed by the haggling Savingholmes. I definitely struggle with that.
Given that I'm away with work, not much progress - but at least I've racked up a couple of airmiles (by the time I retire, I might have enough to go somewhere).
Have been to see some friends this weekend and cashed in some hotel points I thought I'd never used, for staying near the airport before a "stupid o'clock" flight tomorrow so one night in 4 star hotel for free - hurrah. Won't count the whole lot (as I'd have stayed somewhere dirt cheap if paying real money, and also wouldn't have used the internet!) but it is a bonus, so I'm going to count £25 of it.
If I'd been more savvy I probably wouldn't have got ripped off by taxi drivers here but that's the problem with not speaking the lingo (they seem to have one rate for Romanians and one for foreigners) - economised by getting on the train on the way back, and then got overcharged by another taxi driver (knew he was doing it but he pretended he couldn't understand me and then I got a bit scared). Hmmm I really need to wise up I think! Probably only a fiver down overall but bit annoyed with myself for being a wuss.
Two other countries next week (don't ask) then I can be back on the moneysaving trail!0 -

Back to work today so catching up on five days worth of threads! Not a bad few days off. Found 51p in the street, sold three things on ebay - profit of £5.67 and £20.45 in tips. Did an extra shift on Saturday night, but won't get paid for this until October.
