Fake Natwest Email

FAKE NATWEST BANK ONLINE WEBSITE BEWARE!!!!!

WARNING TO NATWEST ACCOUNT HOLDER'S CURRENT OR CANCELLED.

To all MSE's I've recieved an emial today from Natwest PLc instructing me to update my account information, with a link to a fake natwest online website, Looking very convincing and requesting normal information and some more sensitive information, if it wasn't for my anti phishing filter alerting me about this when i entered the site.
I have reported it to mircosoft anti-phishing website, the other main reason for looking at the site was that I cancelled my account with natwest three years ago!!!!

This is the emial that i received, if you recieve one like this then delete straight away:

There dosn't need to be a phishing email received etc in order to get caught up in a fraudulent website. Just logging on to your bank's website in the usual way can result in serious problems.

I am currently having trouble with LTSB & Sainsbury's Finance. LTSB were on the ball & shut down my online banking immediately. It took two phone calls to Sainsbury's Finance before they suspended my online access until new security details are in place.

    See thread ''Online Security Problems''.

That must be at least the second one of these I have heard about since the year 2000. There must be a copy cat out there somewhere.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
  • I always enjoy filling in fake logins with funny and abusive text when I receive them, or input random but seemingly valid data, I'm sure they get well excited when it comes to reading their server logs :p

    Usefull part;

You shouldn't need an anti phising filter to alert you to a phising scam, a bank will or should never attempt to direct you from an email and ask for personal info.

  • Looks like the OP has a live link in there as well
  • I wonder if any of the people that this website has been reported to have bothered to tell the legitimate website that they are hosting this phishing site. Snap Decisions Catering have blatantly been hacked and since the website is still there it would appear that they haven't realised it yet.

I think banks should send out fake emails themselves and suspend the account of any fool who ignores the security advice.

    GG

That's not actually correct - if you hover over the link you'll see the address that you'll be taken to when you click (rather than the address that you're hovering over) - hope that make sense . Regardless - nothing to do with cookies.

That on the other hand is an excellent idea! :rotfl:

I use Firefox as my browser and this is pretty good at making it very obvious if I accidentally end up at a site that is suspected of being dodgy like this.
