Replacement phone - fair exchange?
My mobile phone is broken and after much too-ing and fro-ing to CPW to have it in and out of repair they have finally admitted it needs replacing.
I have an insurance policy with CPW which I fully intend to cancel after I have sorted a new mobile out.
Anyhow - my old phone is a Siemens C45 (v old) and they can't replace the model. I have instead been offered a Nokia 1100.
My question is, is this a fair exchange? I originally bought a Seimens C35 for about £50, which was later replaced with a Seimens C45. I could buy a Nokia 1100 in CPW for £20. Is an argument that this phone costs £30 less than the original phone and I should be being offered one in a similar price range a compelling one?
As I have to pay £20 excess on the insurance for a replacement phone anyway (hence cancelling it) this isn't really a good deal. But, if I could get them to replace it with a £50 phone I would be slightly better off.
Anyway - very garbled, but I am sure you clever people will make sense of it.
Any advice?

Unfortunately this is much like the problem people have when being burgled - and they are offered £50 for their TV because that is what it was 'worth', regardless of the fact it will cost £150 to replace new.
However, am I right to assume that, had the C45 still been in manufacture they would have replaced with a new model? Because if so, then you should have a good argument when you claim you should be entitled to another phone of a similar value. I would persist in trying to be given a better phone.0 -
Cheers Gizmoleeds. Yep - you're right. If there was a C45 available they would have replaced it with that.
I'll try that tack with them I think.

It certainly doesn't sound like a valuable policy; I can see why you'll cancel it. Maybe you could try and get something from their refurbished stock that originally cost £75 or so.0

If I helped you spend some money - spank me
