Hot water tank

hey wonder if anyone can help..

I have a flat i have lived in for years, its all electric heating and then theres my hot water tank that has never been serviced - does anyone know who i can go to to get it looked at - it always seems to be on and theres a second switch that doesn't seem to work - i remember in my old flat 1 was a boost

can i got to a special company or should i speak to my managment company? would it be classed under maintenance for the flat block?? (they pay my water and sewage out of my monthly service payment to them)

Thanks

There is nothing to service on a hot water tank.

Just check it hasn't a leak.

The immersion heater also doesn't need maintenance - they work or they don't!

Why do you say it always seems to be on?

I would be very unhappy about this due to an experience earlier this year when we moved house. The tank was obviously faulty because we got so little hot water from it. We had a couple of people quoting for gas CH and asked them; consensus was that it was probably furred up with limescale, needed a new thermostat maybe and that it wasn't worth doing if we were having a combi boiler fitted. We then realised we were getting some hot water even when we hadn't switched it on. Then it started leaking. All within about a month.

Upshot was CH got put in ahead of schedule and we had a horrendous electricity bill for a month's use.

Well, we don't get very much hot water at all and if i switch one switch off we don't get any and i'm sure thats not right i'm sure ones meant to be a booster but i've tried to alternate them and that doesn't work either..

Some HW tanks have 2 immersion heaters. One for just a small amount of water. It might be that your main immersion heater is not working.

It is not a difficult(expensive) job to fit a new heater.
