I don't believe in this God mumbo jumbo, never been Christened, but my wife is Catholic. Even the Catholic church relented and agreed to marry us - I think they are starting to realise that mixed marriages / partnerships are normal these days - although it may be a while before they start being agreeable to same sex partnerships. The priest even said he respected me for stating I had no religion - he said people normally just say they are CofE or something just to get them to marry them. I did, however, have to agree to any children we had to be brought up as Catholic. But when the time for Baptism comes, I will stand there and listen to the God stuff, but I will not be uttering The word!I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -

Saying that i still respect those that do believe and would never put them down for their beliefs. (by the way - we were told that you couldnt marry if you hadnt been christened and could be christened before marriage) i dont think this happens today and regarding the burial side you could not be be buried in consecrated ground if you had taken your own life. I think this is still the case today.
It doesn't sound like you respect Catholics! It may be "utter twaddle & brainwashing" to you but maybe nort to someone else!0 -
I bet it's more to do with them getting into a better school.0
