Nokia N95 - cracked screen
Hi my friend has recently bought a nokia N95 on contract from phones4u. She's only had it about a week and it seems that the screen has cracked, but its not on the outside. Which i know sounds strange, but it looks like there is an inside layer of glass on the screen and that has cracked whilst being in her bag.
Does anyone know if this is a common fault, and do you think phones4u will replace/repair the phone under warranty?

unfortunatly, any screen damage is considered user damage by most shops/phone manufacturers. if you have insurance you may be able to claim on it, but im not 100% sure if they will replace it0

Seems that the actual lcd screen has cracked, I doubt that it will be covered under warranty as this normally only happens under heavy pressure!
I would replace the screen yourself rather than pay to get it down. I was qouted £70 by a Nokia repair centre for an N73 lcd screen, decided to buy it off ebay for £20 and do it myselfSLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250 -

If you can't get it fixed for free then if you feel confident fix the screen yourself. I haven't fixed an N95 LCD yet but have done it on many other mobile phones. Looks like with the N95 it's just a case of undoing 4 screws (You'll need a T6 Torx screwdriver, couple of quid off Ebay), removing the broken screen (Usually just a case of unclipping the connector and taking the screen out) and putting the new one in and putting the phone back together.
Failing that you could list the phone on Ebay, you'll get a good price for it even with the broken screen, enough to buy a decent phone to replace it with.Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0 -
