It may be so but the statistics from recovering AA members would be skewed because they are more likely to be meeting practising alcoholics than other people would.
It wouldn't surprise me if it's true though - but death certificates usually record immediate cause of death rather than what led to the immediate cause.0 -

Having said that, we tend to visit Israel in Jan / Feb time, when it is nice to get a burst of sun and warmth. Tel Aviv residents tend to be whinging about how cold it is (20 to 24 degrees, poor darlings).
In the Blue Mountains just outside Sydney they feel the need to point out the roads may be slippery if there's ice on them.
Mrs Generali remembers frost on her lawn a couple of times when she was a kid she thinks.0 -
It does snow from time to time in Jerusalem, and it's always cooler there than down on the plains (for example, Tel Aviv). It's much higher - the Old City is about 2,500 feet above sea level. The Dead Sea is about 1,400 feet below sea level, and as they are only approx. 30 miles apart, if you drive to the Dead Sea it's just down, down, down all the way....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
