mobile contract with 'iffy' credit rating

Hi all
Looking for a mobile phone contract.
Had problems years ago, defaults etc but have now opened a full account with natwest, chequebook but only solo card.
Surplus funds to have a mobile phone in order to improve my rating.
Who should I approach first bearing in mind no credit card just solo debit?

well i have a terrible credit rating and i've recently been approved for a contract with orange.

t-mobile's "solo" sim-only deal is designed for people with low credit scores as well.

but then 3 have a reputation for accepting pretty much anyone - i started out with them initially and they accepted me no problem with a bad credit rating and at least one default AND CCJ against me.

i got accepted by o2 much to the amusement of the carphone wharehouse worker who told me i was rejected by orange and three and was really suprised that 02 said yes because he said they are notoriously hard to be accepted by

Going to try Carphone warehouse online. Used to be a customer of theirs with Talk Talk, never missed a payment so MAYBE???

how did you get on? the thing I'd be concerned about with that is the credit checks are done for each relevant network rather than just a carphone warehouse credit check.

I have heard mixed comments about the difficulty of each network, I had some credit problems in the past so started again with 3 for 2 contracts, then tmobile for 1, then tried Vodafone but got knocked back. so took a new deal with tmobile as I didnt want to risk getting bombed out by Orange
